feemcg
10 can fit in a Cube easily, as long as you have a big enough run.
Eyren
According to the Omlet product guide, a cube plus run extension will hold 10 chickens - and it will last better than any traditional wooden coop. http://www.omlet.co.uk/products_services/products_services.php?view=Eglu%20Cube The alternative would be to get a simple walk-in run and a second eglu, but that would take up more space and be more expensive... I dont have a eglu at the moment due to the cost but we did want one! however my chooks freerange all day so a run is not needed I just feel the cube looks to small for 10 large hens! Aunty e
It's really not. I have six hybrids, 3 pure breeds and 3 pekins in mine, and I used to have two fat cockerels as well - there was always tons of room not being used. We're planning on getting another couple of hybrids to fill out the space.
Cinnamon
I have 7 in mine & there is bags of room to spare. In fact I mentioned to the hubby just last night that I could easliy fit a few more in there
Eyren
Sorry, your chicken-cam doesn't work for me as I'm not on Windows, so I can't see your setup. Most people have a run because there's always a small chance that Mr Fox might decide to pay a visit (quite large chance in some people's cases!). I let my girls out when I'm at home, as long as I'm within earshot, but even though I've yet to see a fox within two miles of our house, I prefer to shut them in when I'm not around. Treekeeper
I agree with the amount of'spare' space at night they all seem to want to squeeze into the same spot! We should hold a competition how many chooks can you get in an eglu!!!
bronze
I have 7 in mine and they all sleep in the nest box though the majority are banties I would have no qualms about keeping at least 10 LF in the cube itself.
sparkleeeeee
i have 10 in my cube including a sussex and two HUGE marans and there is room for at least 5 more in there

Slim
I THINK ONE OF YOUR HENS JUST LAID AN EGG!!!!!!!!!I WATCHED IT!!!!!!! I'm assuming this is live chicken cam If so that egg was laid approx 18.10 this eve OOOH SO EXCITING Yes this is LIVE!! and I bet it was snowball (the big white broiler) only two chickens are laying at the moment the other (muffin) lays green eggs the new 4th cam is on order at the moment that will give 80% garden cover all with motion detection! you will normaly see eggs in the coop these are two rubber eggs to encourage the others to lay this also combated the problem of them laying behind my sheds! Chillicat
Hi Andy - get a cube! Having had rabbits and guinea pigs in wooden houses, the cube is a doddle to keep tidy and clean. I did consider a wooden one as they look traditional (and much cheaper ), but I was sold on the easy upkeep of the cube when I went to Gina's hen party. I have five hens in the cube with an extended run and I would love to add more and get some blue/green layers Cube = more chooks vs. Wooden house = more cleaning Go for it...cancel the holiday this year...get a cube
Flo
I'm afraid I don't have any advice for keeping lots of chickens I just wanted to say that I love your chicken-cam set up. It is brilliant! I had better not get one though, otherwise I would spend all day at work watching my girls! Great idea Flo
