Peacocks

[Ain't Nobody Here]

Congratulations to all you ex-batt rescuers . Lots of lucky chickens around today .

[Ain't Nobody Here]

Lovely photos, Ziggy . They look very sweet - bless their little pale, floppy combs .

[Egluntyne]

The are lovely.

You will het a real buzz from watching them improve in condition and gain confidence as they explore their new world.

Well done.

Have they got names yet?

[Ziggy]

Mine got called Pecky, Nicky and Lucky...

It's lovely watching them slowly walk around... they threw a lot of the layer's mash on the floor to dustbathe in and scratch around in

[Jules.]

I like Suki's tshirt!

Lovely chooks as well

[One Man Banned]

Your chooks look very happy too Ziggy!!

Audrey has just had a bit of a go at Marjorie - I can see who's gonna be the troublesome one here

Just hoping that Geri settles down soon - she's getting a croaky croak now she's been whinging so long

[Suzie]

Ziggy - I was there just after 1pm. The OH has friends over helping him build the shed and they are all mesmorised by the chickens. Although they've now all been named after rock/pop stars (hope they don't start acting like them) I am stuggling to tell them apart though - I guess it'll get easier when I get used to them.

[Ziggy]

We must have been there at the same time Suzie... I got there just before 1 and left around 1.20...

Rock star chooks... and why not... time for a bit of bok-and-roll

Ziggy - I guess you were probably paying whilst I was loading the chooks

I like that bok-and roll

[Abbey Road Girl]

Well done, you rescuers!

And thanks for the photos--puts the odd bit of feather-pulling into perspective.

[fairy&cake]

Lovely lovely day for all then

Beautiful photos too.

Where is sukis tee shirt from? its ACE!

[Ain't Nobody Here]

Rock star chooks...

Rock chicks

[Ziggy]

Suki's t-shirt came from Boden by the way... couldn't resist it, had to buy it for her...

It just was the perfect thing to wear today...

Well Pecky, Lucky and Nicky have been put to bed... thank goodness for small 8 years old that can be sent crawling into eglu runs...

Good night to all omleteers, and to all new rescue hens out there... sweet dreams everybody

[Martin B]

Great to see you today Clare, AMO and Andrew!

I have to deal with Emma tomorrow at another Rescue!

Another omleteer was there but I have no idea who, they were speaking to monica about the forum..

Tired and off to bed, will upload photos etc. tomorow!

[One Man Banned]

Glad your bedtime has gone well Ziggy

Sadly ours hasn't been quite so successful, and Marjorie is currently in box in the downstairs loo as all three of the girls had a horrible go at her earlier.

She has been a very adventurous girly, she even jumped on to the Eglu earlier and tried to climb in the tree

Will try and post a pic of that later.

Margot was certainly miffed that Audrey had settled in "her" nest box - which is why they wouldn't let poor Marjorie in through the door, and she keeps coming to me and snuggling in - it's so sweet in that respect. Where's the "ahhh" emoticon??

Will wait til they're all asleep and put Marjorie in the Eglu with them all, as much as having a house hen would be fun, I don't think it's sustainable!!

YOur girls look happy in their new home Ziggy. It was lovely to meet you and Suki today; I am sorry that I was so grubby, sweaty and smelly! We'd worked our socks off.

Suzie, I am sorry that I didn't know you were coming - did I say hello, not realising who you were? I was the small one in the BHWT sweatshirt, orange baseball cap and chicken poo!

[One Man Banned]

one very energetic Ex Battery Hen

[Ziggy]

What a lovely picture Andrew... it just calls for a caption like 'Aaaaaahhhhhhh..... freedom.... ummmmmm'

Looks like a happy relaxed hen...

Clare, you didn't look as bad as you think, honestly... you seemed perfectly fine to me... maybe spending a few hours amongst chickens makes you over aware of the smell and poos that other people won't notice when talking to you

[Jules.]

Andrew great pic She may need her wing clipping!

You have the same bald patch of earth that I have just beyond your netting where the girls stick their heads through to peck the grass

[WitchHazel]

Oh bless! They look so sweet and so dazed.

[AMO]

Well done everyone who had girls from the rescue this weekend.

It was one of our smoothest rescues yet with 450 girls rescued and rehomed in one day. It was brilliant having Claret there to help because she just got on with it. We were unloaded, rehoming with all the crate, mats and vehicles cleaned by 2pm - phew

Enjoy your girls everyone!!

[SAB]

Andrew - lovely picture of adventurous hen - looks as though she is working out how to get over the fence - has she been watching "Chicken Run?"

[Suzie]

Suzie, I am sorry that I didn't know you were coming - did I say hello, not realising who you were? I was the small one in the BHWT sweatshirt, orange baseball cap and chicken poo!

Claret - I think you were helping the people behind me put their chooks into boxes. Sorry I didn't say hello - didn't realise it was you until I read your description (it wasn't the sweaty smelly bit that gave it away but the sweatshirt!)

To be honest, I didn't know I was coming. I had my name down for May, but Mollie and Ian managed to get another 30 chickens off the farmer that morning and I had said to Mollie that I'd have my chooks early if poss.

[The Dogmother]

Ahhh, I'd probably recognise you if I saw your face again then.

AMO, you're more than welcome; I thoroughly enjoyed it - tiring but really worthwhile.

I will email both you and Mollie & Ian regarding the 14th June
