MedusA
I absolutely loved the Adipose babies!!!!! I read in Radio Times that someone has made a stress-buster version. I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait for later in the series. There are two episodes by the writer who did the "are you my mummy?" and "don't blink" episodes. *shudder* These episodes are promised to be equally scary. CT was OK. I liked the glimpse of Rose. DT was g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!
craftyhunnypie
Grr - I only caught the end of it, where Catherine Tate whizzed off in the tardis & waved down at some old fella??? So I missed the lot & it looked a good one. Been thinking about Doctor who - how did he first discover he was a time lord / traveller & how did he discover how the tardis worked, meet K9 etc. Oh & why does the doctor change every now & then & how?? What was the first ever place the first doctor who visited / went back or forward in time to? I find it totally fascinating these days, considering I used to hide behind the settee when I was little - scared to dearth of Doctor Who! Tina C
Oooooh... ok... I quite like him... Only watched Torchwood once... it was a horrendous episode about people in a tiny village butchering people and keeping all the body parts for meat... hated it...Are all the Torchwood episodes as disturbing as that one was?? I watched an early episode of Torchwood and hated it too. I watched the last few of the series just ended and loved it. I do lieke JB better than DT you see..... Tina C
And finally - we can't wait for the next episode. The cuddly monsters were great but NOT scary enough
Sheilaz
& waved down at some old fella???Emma.x Some old fella? Didn't you recognise him ? Who was it then Bron - I recognised the face but could not place him. Bernard Cribbins! (Railway children and loads of fine acting, think he's great.) Thought that was a lovely cameo part. As a William Hartnell & beyond Dr.Who fan, but sometimes disillusioned by more modern plots, I thought this was brilliant. Really enjoyed it. Oh, we somehow missed it last night, although we'd been looking forward to it. So, bought Freeview box today, just to watch it! Expensive episode. I prob. know some of the Timelord answers Emma, will have a think, but off to bed now. Yes, where's Dan? Or I could get my brother to explain it, you'll soon feel sleepy. redfrock
sat down to watch it tonight and our hard drive hadn't recoeded it and it was too late to record the repeat as it was already half way through
Lesley
In the absence of Dan.....Carl will reply (another Doctor Who fan ) Bernard Cribbins was in one of the early films - The Dalek Invasion of Earth 1966 (when Carl was 1 year old ) - in his cameo role on Saturday he was Catherine Tate's grandfather. She had told him to look out for a blue box while he was looking at the stars - when she went off with the Doctor, she directed the Doctor to go over the allotments so that she could wave to her grandfather....... chocchick
I really loved it Sarah Lancashire managed to pull off being a baddie without it being too painful. The little fat people were really cute too. I liked CT she does seem to have improved a fair bit since the Christmas special though. Spoilers: I loved the way she had suitacases packed, and the bit where they were mouthing words through the glass and completely missing each other on the same street It was a lot more like the Rose days (I really wasn't impressed with Martha) and CT just had bags of personality. Helly Welly
Bernard Cribbens was also the stall holder in the Christmas episode when DT and Kylie went down to Earth with those bracelets on. Great way to introduce Rose, they'll keep teasing us with that one all through the series.

Valkyrie
You can't have it there, dig it elsewhere, and it can't be round coz it's got to be square!!! Remember you're (not) a Womble!

WitchHazel
His whole race are (or, rather, were) Timelords. He didn't grow up on Earth and discover he was a timelord, he was born and lived on Galifrey. Timelords have the ability to regenerate if they die, up to a maximum of twelve times (which is interesting as David Tenant is already the tenth incarnation). However, it appears they can choose not to regenrate and then to die, which is what apparently happened to the Master at the end of the last series. Our Doctor is the last of the Timelords. His whole civilisation (apart from him, and the Master) were exterminated by Daleks, and Galifrey was destroyed in the last Time War. He has always had a fondness for Earth and humans, which is why he spends so much time here. Hope that helps.
bronze
Are you my mummy. Ahhhh even thinking that has my hairs on end. I never did watch blink. Chickened out too long then dh deleted it. I bet it was good though. Have to agree this weeks was weak. ITs on really sillyly early though. You couldnt show blink at 6.20!
Goosey Lucy
What a fabulous explanation Dan. Most of what you said I remembered but didn't know that I knew! I am in two minds about the current series. I happily let ES (almost watch this week's episode as I'd seen a trailer and it didn't look particularly frightening (it wasn't.) However there is no way I am going to let him watch episodes similar to Mummy, Blink, Weeping Angels etc. He has bad dreams about the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, goodness only knows what would happen if he saw some of these. When the time slot was 7pm I could have him upstairs before he realised it was on. At this time, I have no chance! I shall go back to recording them then watching with OH and letting ES watch the episode as a treat on another night when YS is tucked up in bed. MedusA
I watched the original Dalek episodes back in the early 60s. I had nighmares for weeks, but wouldn't have missed it for the world. I simply love any episodes with Daleks in them. Makes me feel like a kid again. *wishful thinking*
craftyhunnypie
I feel like I've missed so much Dr Who!!! I only watch episodes if I happen to catch them. I remember the days when Tom Baker took over from John Pertwee!!! The one that sticks in my mind these days is the weeping angels - it was so scary. I seem to remember also something about the ' are you my mummy'. So what else have I got to look forward to? The torchwood sounds good & gory too!!! bronze
Moffat's stories this year are called "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead" so probably best if your lad avoids those! I am also looking forward to the Agatha Christie story, the Pompeii story next week and if the Ood are in anything as good as "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit" then we should be in for a treat! I'm thinking it might be best if I avoid them! I'm really looking forward to the Agatha Christie one. I'm a huge fan of hers so hopefull it'll do her justice.
