Chili
Do you have a Snowdome near you? He could take some friends tubing or sledging if he's into the adrenalin rush thing
Chicken Licken
what about a barbecue - just a low key party for family and a few friends. They will no doubt celebrate their GCSEs finishing in a few weeks time anyway.
chili pepper
What about one of those experience days, I got a session in a recording studio for my daughter and 2 friends to sing and record their own record. Something to keep forever then too!
Fabergé
How about go-karting? My son loves it! There are several indoor circuits in Surrey - they provide everything you need ie overalls, helmets & gloves (& the kart too of course!). Then out for a pizza afterwards! Valkyrie
My son had a sleepover and early next morning went to Alton Towers with the lads, a long day trip. Oh dropped them off and went to a NT place and had a snooze, then picked them up later at their designated meeting point. No grown ups to nag them. How about Thorpe Park - owned by the same people and good rides. Daughter just turned 16 and we had usual homey type things on the day, and at the weekend she had a movie night sleepover. They bought loads of junk food and hired a few films, some scary, some funny. We left them to it and good time had by all. I would LOVE to see Alice Cooper! Jules.
I'm squirreling all these ideas away for when my turn to throw a party for a 16 yo comes
Guest
My DD2 was 16 last week and is having her 'party' this week. OH has planned a live London Game for her friends. We will buy travelcards for themand each group will be given an envelope with the places they have to visit. They will have to plan a route and using their camera phones, take a picture to prove they arrived at each tourist site. The first group back to Victoria wins. It has taken ages planning a selction of places which give a roughly equal journey for the three groups. They are each visiting a market, a church (oranges and lemons), a shop, a tourist site and a park. Then it'll be back home for tea and the girls are sleeping over after a film. Guest
If it works, we could run an Omlet London game perhaps? Certainly they're all looking forward to it, which is really nice for a bunch of 16 yos.

Guest
Well, the London Game Live is on Thursday afternoon. I suggested to DD2 that I invite lots of Omlet friends to join in - but for some reason she wasn't too impressed
chelsea
what about one of those "bushtucker weekends" if he is the outdoor type? I sent hubby on one and he thoroughly enjoyed it, they learnt how to live off the land, built huts in the woods, cooked rabbit and worms , learnt how to make fire and camped overnight. He came home absolutely stinking but a good time had.
MedusA
My daughter and her boyfriend suggested Zorbing (you are strapped inside a large inflatable transparent ball and rolled down a hill). Sounds fun, if a bit like being a hamster. I did hot air ballooning last year, but I was a little bit older than 16.
kiwichick
Our neighbours did the "dinner and a movie" thing for their teen last year. Dinner was a BBQ and the movie was a projector set up in the back yard. Judging from the noise they all had a blast

Guest
Perhaps you could play "Spot the teenagers playing the London Game"? If you can find us at Victoria, your prize could be a cup of coffee or similar!
