susanbb
I've got a tomtom. It's good for me and what's good is if you do take the wrong turning she very kindly and calmy tells you to turn around and the next turning. She doesn't shout at you or ask you to put the map up the right way.

Guest
I've got a NavMan and often when I say "its OK I've got SatNav" people say "oh Tom Tom always takes you to the wrong place" (seems like the newer places around basildon are poorly mapped). But my trusty Navman always gets me there!

Guest
I used to have a Dave Dave and he was USELESS. Once we had a weekend in Madrid and had to drive 13k from the airport to the hotel. THREE AND A HALF HOURS later after I finally found the hotel - I knew Madrid like the back of my hand. He could neither drive a car or read a map. In this case his problem was that the map was in Spanish - SO WERE THE STREET NAMES!!!. I ended up driving round Madrid in the rush hour whilst reading the map myself!!! I'm remembering yet another reason why I threw him out...
hillfamily
we used to have GranGran.........but found that between the going 'oh did you see that.........' no, I was paying attention to the road, the occasional senior moment and the constantly changing from map reading glasses to road sign reading glasses meant we quite often missed turnings We've replaced her with TomTom
Mrs Webmuppet
I've got an EloiseEloise, hand her the directions from AA.com and she reads the directions from her car seat..........she managed top get us from Ipswich to Ongar without getting lost we don't rely on the DaddyDaddy model but the MummyMummy version isn't too bad! Snowy
I bought one for OH but he still doesn't listen to it, so it's back to the Snowysnowy - it shouts louder
Guest
Ours is called a HelenHelen, does the same job but is free We just use AA route planner for journeys we aren't sure of, it's never let us down. brilliant! DH has some sort of sat nav programme on his mobile phone but I much prefer using an Atlas and a route planner like the AA one. Much more fun. **edit** although, we drove off the ferry once in Calais and DH started heading for the chunnel when we got there! The shortest holiday in the world was avoided by my quick map reading skills ** Sorry, not much help I know but Helen's post did make me laugh
