theherd123
Im not a shopper at all and dont know where i would be without the internet but havent gone as far as food shopping online yet but may take the plunge when Bean arrives. Don't let DH come with me anymore as he just wants to go 'straight to the things we need' rather then wander up and down all the aisles like i do... Your OH & I have something in common - i call it 'guerilla shopping' Go in, grab what you need as quick as possible without running too many people over, pay and leave. The Dogmother
That's exactly what I did when I went o the supermarket Emma - leave the trolley in the main aisle and go to get what I wanted.
Lesley
When I hurt my knee, we fell into the habit of Carl doing a hit and run while I stayed in the car and read the paper. For some strange reason, he prefers to keep it that way, he says it costs less - and it suits me because I hate shopping I see Sainsbury's is suspended because a blip means that they haven't delivered/can't deliver thousands of orders They are offering a £10 voucher for those who won't be getting their shopping. I rang them last night and they said their site would be up and running by last night, checked several times this morning and still not working. I pondering whether to go on tesco online, I havent bought anything from Tesco for 2 years but I really dont want to actually go to a supermarket and do my shopping! hillfamily
It was mentioned on the BBC breakfast news this morning.........think they may still have a problem tricky choice to make Chelsea - go out to food shop or use Tesco
chelsea
tricky choice to make Chelsea - go out to food shop or use Tesco I know Pam, . Both are evil! I bet once I've placed my order online with Tesco, Sainsburys will be up and running.
redfrock
the problem is, if the site is working then the shop may be even busier and that's the bit I hate most of all.... the queues and the crowds. I get all panicky
chelsea
too late, I rang Sainsburys and still down - no idea when its up. I've ordered with Tesco At least I havent got to go shopping, I only ordered the basics (I will not buy meat from them).
missuscluck
As I think I may have said (just a time or two) I hate supermarket shopping or any shopping come to think of it. I have resisted on-line supermarket shopping because it just seems sooo lazy. (I like to punnish myself ) I pass Aldi on the way home from work so I do buy a lot of essentials there, but I cant get everything. For example Mrcluck will only drink Gold blend etc.... Anyway....following this thread and stressing about money, I thought I might give it a try. I figured that if I tryed it I would not be tempted into buying anything else and stick to the list. And Waitrose is so so tempting! Also my house really needs a good clean So I could spend my shopping time doing that instead (bang, the guilt is gone!!) So I have made an ocado order, which is costing me £3.00 to have delivered as I only spent £42. It is due to arrive between 8 and 9pm. Ill let you know what I think later. Ain't Nobody Here
Can't get Ocado deliveries here . I don't think I could justify doing a food shop online as I have about 5 different supermarkets within 5 miles . I've been very good at boycotting Tesco and only go to the tiny ones to get bread & milk if I have to so use the others in equal amounts. I find Waitrose very expensive but I'm sure that's because I see things that look lovely and chuck them in the trolley . I find Morrisons cheapest (although I don't really like it) and they have a lot of BOGOF offers. It's closest to me too.
Tessa the Duchess
I love doing my supermarket shopping online. I use Sainsburys every three weeks or so, it only costs 2.50 for delivery as long as you spend over £70 and have it delivered on a Tues, Wed or Thurs. If the delivery man also put all the groceries away in the cupboards for me it would be perfect Tessa
BarbaraJ
Got my first ocado elivery today was very happy, i bought an organic fruit and veg box and was very pleased with it all looked very fresh
The Dogmother
I've found that their veggies and fruit last far longer than anybody elses
BarbaraJ
still don't feel for us i could do a full shop though, the meat is very expensive , am trying to source meat elsewhere than supermarkets at the moment. With 5 adults in the family, own brand toilet rolls etc are sometimes a necessety.Branded stuff was mostly same as tesco on there though! Olly
I've tried a couple of online delivery services, and Ocado wins every time for me. The drivers are so courteous, they carry the shopping right into the kitchen, let you know if they are running late (or early, which is more usual) and if there's anything missing or damaged - very rarely - then there's no quibble over refunds. You probably can buy cheaper, but Waitrose food is good quality and they do a wide range of organic stuff. The other thing I really like is that their own-brand packaging is always clearly marked to show if it can be recycled (most of it can). I tend not to buy processed foods or branded goods much anyway, perhaps if I bought those it would be dearer. Welly doesn't like their cat-food though it has to be Whiskas. Yorkshire Pudding
We have a Morrisons about a mile away and it is cheaper, with lots of BOGOFs, although it's an awful miserable place to shop. However I can get free-range chicken and most of my eco- household cleaners and recycled loo rolls. The fruit and veg are ok but not as good as Ocado. I LOVE Ocado for all the reasons everyone else does, but we are on a massive cash-saving spree at the moment so am reastricting myself to Morrisons, buying much less meat and generally less unneccessary stuff - not so many snacks etc. It's working - last week's shop only came to £80 and I would have spent £120 before. Lewis
This site compares your trolley against the prices of Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda (although Asda don't do home delivery). Asda deliver by us
BarbaraJ
Well the driver was lovely, he didn't bring shopping in and was 45mins early, without informing me which i didn't mind today but i could have been out!
abwsco
I think I might try Ocado out as when I was checking the prices last night they didn't seem dear to me. I have done online food shopping before and did find it saved me money as I didn't impulse buy! We've only a smallish Sainsburys in town and the choice isn't brilliant or quality that good but Asda and Morrisons are further away so then there is the cost of petrol. I am lucky though in that I can get to Home Bargains easily for their cut price toilet rolls, toiletries, cereals etc. I'm another one who loathes food shopping but I'm sure a lot of that is to do with trying to keep to a budget. missuscluck
Im converted! A very nice man brought my shopping into the kitchen for me about 15 mins into my allotted time spot. I had a text this afternoon to let me know they could fill all my order and to remind me what time they were comming. Everything was perfect and all there. And I got a voucher for a 12 quid bottle of wine when I place my next order Should have done this years ago! Ill still do Aldi on the way home from work and get my meat from the farm in bulk but will be doing this every week now. Its BRILLIANT! (And my house is clean in the time I would have spent at the Supermarket.)
The Dogmother
Brilliant news Lynda! I like that they even tell you the name of the person delivering and the reg of the van.. I feel safer that way. My delivery is normally 7-8pm, but last week, I saw the van that was due to deliver to me around the corner while I was on my way back from work, but no driver in sight. Turns out (when he delivered to me) that he was running early, but wasn't alllowed to call me to see if I could accept early delivery more than an hour before my due time (you keeping up?), so he'd gone for a stroll in the park... bless him! missuscluck
Hope he enjoyed his walk in the park. I have to say, my driver was easy on the eye too!
The Dogmother
I've had deliveries from both male and female drivers and they are always very pleasant. A far cry from the Te$co ones that deliver to work.
