Karen & co.
Today has been rather strange, as we have been having a sort out of toys that are no longer played with it is also my youngest daughter Sarah's 10th Birthday tomorrow, how did that happen It doesn't feel like that long since we brought the tiny bundle home from hospital. The fact that she is now going into double figures is making me feel rather old Karen x
ubereglu
I know the feeling, especially when I have the occasional and rare tidy up. I found one of my 1st birthday cards once, it was pink and had cross-stitched ducks on it made by my sister! I also found a heap of 7th birthday cards too, from friends I generally haven't heard from since I started secondary school 4 years ago...it's really weird! Rolo Rabbit
Ohhh. I really feel for you.Our youngest is 9 and I always hate it when we move on to another stage -getting rid of clothes and toys can have me in tears. I think the main thing for me is to just make sure that I enjoy each little phase as much as I can so I don't look back and wish I hadn't hurried them out of it. If you see what I mean. Not always easy or possible but I aim for it.
Guest
My youngest is 10 too and I entirely understand what you mean. Starting school was upsetting rather than a proud moment with all the others. Leaving the infant school was very sad too - I'd been a mother there for 10 years! and now I am very aware that later this year I am going to have to apply for secondary school. It will be another sad moment when he starts there. You are right Rolo Rabbit. It has made me notice and enjoy the moments in their lives much more. With the older ones I always had a baby or toddler to get in the way. Now I can really appreciate the special times we share with all of them. But I am all too aware that these will go past very quickly.

Jules.
I very often sit in my house & wonder how/when I aquired such a grown-up thing like a house or children, or a job, a car etc. Inside I'm still 16!

Mind you I have to little ones too so they make me feel young again, well 'til I get down onto the floor and struggle to get up again

missuscluck
I noticed the videos on Freecycle That was on my list of things to do. We have lots and lots which never get used anymore. Will follow your lead on that one. Hope they found a good home. Happy Birthday Sarah.
whittlewitch
When my Grandma was well in her 80's, I remember her saying she still felt like a young girl inside, at this point in time she still acted it climbing trees in the orchard to pick the apples and plums (until we nicked her ladders). I think there something worth remembering while we feel young at heart we will (hopefully) remain young in our ways - which will be much to my daughters horror, as I think she now has me marked as ancient, and is picking me out a nice quiet retirement home!! Mrs Webmuppet
It only seems like yesterday that I was waddling around looking like I'd swallowed a space hopper ( with my friends singing the Telly Tubby tune behind my back)................that 'bump' will be 8 on Thursday! I too keep forgetting my age.........
Seagazer
My eldest, my daughter, will be 21 in October. How that happened when I'm sure I'm only 24 I really don't know. Everyone always remembers her birthday 16th October - the night/morning of the hurricane. Who really thinks that that was 21 years ago?
