Collected my 5 beautiful ex-batt girls 1 month yesterday and am having just the most fantastic time with them!!

They are all gaining weight, all have lots of new feather sprouting daily, have learnt to sleep on the perches, use the ramp, lay in the nest box, etc. etc.

They all have such wonderful and such different personalities and characters and they bring me endless entertainment, i have got such a bond with them and i know they really appreciate the life they have now and love me for giving it to them.

Would whole heartedly recommend ex-batts to everyone, the first week was a little tough especially as we had awful weather but they have just gone from strength to strength.

The enjoyment, fullfillment, love, laughter and great sense of satisfaction is just fantastic. It is so rewarding.....i'm pretty sure the girls are happy too :D

Hello *Mummy_Hen*

I was wondering where you were - but knew you would be busy!

Your photos are beautiful :D you must be so proud of your lovely girls and the progress they have made (in such a short time):clap::clap: which is all down to the love you have given them of course!

I have had my six ex-batts exactly the same time and agree with everything you say. The difference in them is amazing and I now wonder what I did with my time before I got them. Even the cats seem happy with the new members of the family, though Loki's attempts to get them to play with him have still not been successful  .

Like you, I would highly recommend ex-batts. Watching them go from scrawny feather-bares to confident little individuals (cheeky with it too :D ) has been very satisfying, and there's still a long way to go. I would suspect another couple of months of so before they are fully-feathered pretty hens and it will be well worth the wait. I won't then have to circulate regular updates to my staff about how "their" hens are doing!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who's life has changed - for the better of course :D .

Thanks everybody - i feel like they really are my little babies

I can't believe a month has gone by either  On the other hand, it feels like they have been part of our family forever!!

OH loves them, he gets the fun of egg checking every morning though as i'm at work and he's usually around till midday :(

I wouldn't have thought they would be properly feathered for a good couple of months yet, it has taken them this long for little ones to start sprouting out.

Just noticed - my back door was filthy in those pictures  I have cleaned it since then but it's the dog (black and white spotty thing trying to get in the last pic) who scratches at it when he wants to come in making it dirty!!
