Couperman
I really despair sometimes, this appears to have been the work of children. Warning: not a nice story to say the least. If you do not want to click the link, here is a brief summary; Allotment, Animals, Murder, Carnage, £3000 vet fees, Police interviewing children, oldest 13. http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/2008/07/05/children-quizzed-after-animals-slaughtered-84229-21268169/ What will these delightful twelve year olds be capable of when they are over six foot in a few years time? (presuming it was them). Where are all these scumballs coming from? Kev.
Egluntyne
They have parents who don't give a monkeys about where they are, what they are doing or who they associating with. Appalling. Substance abuse will be another ingredient, no doubt.

Guest
do you think we could/should send messages of support/sympathy to the gazette and ask them to send them on to these poor people? I'd like them to know we're thinking of them and that not all the world is so evil.

Egg Lou
This is horrific.. what on earth goes on in the minds of these thugs! My 15 year old struggles to swat a fly and would be so upset id I showed her this.. The kids and the parents should at the very least help and cover the vet bills and then be forced to scrub pig pens and help other animals all symmer holidays!! I just cannot understand how they can to do this to one inocent animal let alone one after another... makes me so upset and livid at the same time.. bring back "punishment fits the crime" days please! BeckyBoo
In my personal experience and opinion it's about time parents were made to take responsibility for their childrens behaviour. Sure, you can't always control what your 15 or 16 year old is doing, but if you've had to take responsibility for them up til then then it shouldn't be an issue. you should darned well know where your 12 year old is and what they're up to as far as I'm concerned. If any of mine ever even THOUGHT about such anti social behaviour they wouldn't be allowed out. Every day I'm at work we deal with youths this age and younger, kicking footballs against peoples windows, throwing stones at elderly residents, ripping up plants from peoples gardens, vandalising property, it's appalling. And it never used to be like this. I've been a copper for near on 17 years and I'm astonished and appalled at how fast our childrens behaviour is changing, and at how it is now "the norm" that anti social behaviour is expected. What on earth is going on? Soon as I can I'm off, I don't want my children growing up here, there's nothing for youths in the evening round here and they all seem to end up hanging round bus stops and the like. As long as society sits there condemning the behaviour and doing nothing about it it will continue to escalate and appalling acts like this on the allottment will become more commonplace. It is important to realise that these thugs are the minority, but it's a growing minority, born from people who take no responsibility for theirs or their childrens lives. Rant over, I'm off for a cup of tea Mrs B
Ain't Nobody Here
That is the most appalling story . What on earth is going on in the mind of a young child when they are doing something like that? It really makes you despair of our country - knife murders and animal cruelty seem to be in the papers every other day. There is a small proportion of society which seems to be careering out of control, with no compassion or moral compass. But of course we have to protect their human rights at all costs. Tessa the Duchess
I agree this is just awful I cannot understand why children today seem to revel in mindless cruelty. A lesser offence but still hugely annoying... my next door neighbour had his scooter stolen last week. They carried it down to our local churchyard and just destroyed it They ripped off the wing mirrors, ripped off the saddle and kicked it so it didn't look like a scooter any more. He was very upset as he used it to travel to work and back everyday Why did they do it? Just the pleasure of destroying something I presume. Keanie Bean
They are sick, ther should be some kind of justice for those poor animals. We had a copule of sygnets cornered and beaten to death in our local park a month or two ago. The parents have since flown off leaving the remaining baby behind. It is thought the parents wont return and who can blame them! Sarah.x
Stevie
What on earth are these monsters going to grow up into? The most scariest thing is that almost all serial killers started off with defenceless animals and also these kids will be runnig the country in 20-30 years time. Shocking. I don't want to read the post as I think it will be too distressing to read, however I would like to say that there are alot more nicer and kinder people out there than there are evil and most of us are animals lovers and would never cause unneccessary suffering to any creature. Louise
What I don't understand is the cry from young people that there is nothing to do These are children why do they stay out so late at night You hear all the time about alcohol being confiscated from very young children hanging aroud in the dark and so they shoul be at home in bed I am so glad that I don't have children which is a sad thing to say but I would be in trouble for 'abusing' their human rights by insisting they are home at nights and expecting them to go to bed at a reasonable time whilst learning respect for others and their property These little monsters don't deserve rights
MedusA
Sorry. I can't look either as I know what I read will upset me too much. I can't imagine what goes through the minds of these individuals. It is so saddening.
whittlewitch
I couldn't read the article, the summary gave me enough information to know that I would be so appalled I wouldn't get any work done for the rest of the day. Surely parents are alot to blame, I know where my 12 year old is, she doesn't have a free reign, and even if she did I know that she would never purposefully hurt anything or anyone (brother excluded). I often see children of 9/10 out at 10pm or later, and once they get to high school you get kids out at midnight, this is far far to late, I know they are not all causing problems, but surely parents should have some responsibility to ensure children are safe and indoors at a reasonable hour. The Dogmother
That is so sad those children need to be take to task before it's too late. Just think... they are eligible to vote in a few years time Their parents probbaly aren't even at home at that time of night, let alone concerned about what their offspring are up to. Vile behaviour like that needs the harshest of punishment.
