The weekend starts here!

Recommended Posts

I'm feeling all warm and fluffy, pleasantly relaxed with a nice bottle of Hawkes Bay chardonnay just opened and lamb shanks in redcurrant jelly roasting away in my oven, hubby and children are home, my missing boxes have suddenly turned up after getting lost in Auckland, so I now have a mattress for our bed and a TV (as well as few other bits & pieces) and I've found my dream job 8) . Still got to actually apply for it, and it's by no means certain that it'll be mine, but they seem very interested in me, have rung me up several times and I'm going in to meet them early next week. All's well with my world 8) .

Since my weekend has well and truly begun I thought I'd wish you all a great weekend, I hope that the sun shines and your weekends go exactly to plan :D

So what are you all doing this weekend? I'm off to the local vege market tomorrow morning for my weekly supplies, then hubby and I going to assemble the new barbecue that we've just bought, and if the weather holds we'll try to christen it either tomorrow or Sunday (got to check it works OK  ). Then on Sunday hubby has promised to take me to a brilliant little organic cafe that he's found near the Okawera falls, then for a walk around the lake :D

Oh Kate, that sounds like a wonderful weekend 8) Not homesick yet then? Sounds like you are settling in really well! But there is one thing missing from that weekend - a spot of chook shopping! :D

First weekend of the summer holidays for us - and I've got nothing planned, and the boys are climbing the walls already :? Think I might introduce an early morning jog for them to burn off some of that surplus energy :?

Kate, your weekend sounds a whole lot better than anyones over here

I will be spending mine washing clothes, attempting to dry said laundry between the showers & mopping muddy paw prints off my kitchen floor

Also I have to get Hubby to do a few household chores, which will take a lot of persuasion I am sure :?

Well done on the job & I am glad you have settled in so quickly.

Sounds lovely :)

I've got nothing on at all tomorrow and DH works Saturdays. Normally my parents come over on a Saturday but they're not this weekend so got a day with the children and nowt to do because everyone else has their hubby at home on a Saturday! I don't mind though because on Sunday we're doing something really exciting...my parents are coming over to babysit DD3 and DH and I are taking the older two down to London to visit the Natural History Museum (or rather the 'dinosaur museum'). I'm so excited - even more than the children I think! We have a dinosaur obsession in our house at the moment. We may also go to the Science Museum to visit the space bit as the children are also very keen on spaceships and planets.

Oooh Kate, that sounds fabulous :D . Your weekend sounds much better than ours  . We're off to the allotment (weather permitting) to tackle the weed jungle and see if there are any veggies lurking beneath them! We need to dig up some more potatoes and plant out the rainbow chard. It's the Continental Market on Sunday in town though and I'm really looking forward to stocking up with French cheeses, sausages, pate etc. Hope the weather is good  .

Enjoy your weekend :D !!

I know that feeling, OH works every Saturday

My DH is only allowed 4 Saturdays off a year too so holidays are a right PITA to organise :? He also has to work every third Sunday and only gets two days off in a row if he's taking AL. So unfair :notalk: Oh how I love feeling sorry for myself!:?

Kate I'm glad that things are going really well for you :D

I'm fantically cleaning & tidying for my hen party tomorrow, at the mo the house is a bombsite.

My walk in run needs to be ready by next Friday, & I'm not sure it will be- the weather has been so awful we've not been able to do much at all.

When I get divorced over it I may join you in NZ

A barbie in the winter, now I am

Raining here again Our school barbeque has been cancelled too for the second year running . It is usually a great social occasion to really catch up with everyone. Ex pupils turn up and it is always held on the Friday evening when the yr 6's come back from PGL so it gives them some time to tell everyone their tales and really chill with their friends. My DS was gutted last year when it was cancelled after his PGL trip.

We are planning an allotment morning tomorrow is it is not too wet still and on Sunday our YD is in a play with her drama group which is typical because that is supposed to be the best day of the weekend and we will be indoors for several hours of it. OH is being really grumpy about it but I will make sure that he supports her :x

Well, i've got an exciting weekend planned, not. Need to hoover which i can't do today as i'm in too much pain. Also need to clean the chooks out so we can put the new plastic roosting bars in.

We might take DD to get her ears pierced as it gives them the whole six weeks to heal before she goes swimming at school and has to take them out. Let's hope she doesn't scream. We're taking her to Claires accessories as they do both ears at the same time. Still not looking forward to it though.

Tomorrow we are driving down to the Isle of Sheppy where my son and his g.friend own a holiday chalet. We are going to help them with a bit of maintenance ready for their two week holiday next month. Sunday will go to farmer's market, weather allowing, clean out the chickens and then in the evening we are throwing a big dinner party for friends who are visiting from Canada. I had spent ages planning what to cook and had a shopping list as long as your arm. This morning DH said "Why don't we forget all this shopping and cooking and just order a massive Indian takeaway":shock: So that is what we are doing. I am not at all houseproud but I do have this 'thing' about doing a massive clean and tidy before parties, goodness knows why, it's really stupid if you think about it  So I suppose I will be cleaning the house most of Sunday :(

Hope you all have a rest and a great weekend.

Tessa

ooh sounds like a lovely weekend - you sound as if you're really settling into life over there! It must be a relief after all the hard work of packing, selling, etc and being apart from your husband.

I've got a busy weekend planned. A concert with my choir tomorrow night, slightly scary as I don't know all the words yet (not sure I know all the music either!) so tomorrow will involve a bit of practice, I have got a massage booked at 1.00 though so I can relax after that.

On Sunday the lady from the cat sanctuary is coming round to visit, so she can assess which of the many cats there would be suitable to join me and Wellington. :P I think he needs some company during the day when I'm at work, I suspect he may not agree with this!

And then in the afternoon I've got a Contact the Elderly tea-party, at someone else's house so all I have to do is pick up my elderly guests and drive them there, and then drink tea and chat - a great end to the weekend. I hope everyone else has a lovely time despite the weather.

We have lovely weather here this morning :D

We have one of those rare (to us!) days where we don't have to do anything - well......apart from Carl has some work to do, luckily from home............ and all the million and one things that need doing on a farm

Carl's birthday tomorrow and we're taking the whole day off. Going up to Derbyshire for a road walk that I know I can manage, Pub Lunch and back home so that Carl can cook Roast Beef, (our own beef) and have time to really enjoy it 8)
