FruitandNutCake
Got a call this afternoon to see if I wanted the Ex Batts I was after since April! So I'm off to get some this evening. I think I'll just go for 4, as I already have the 3 that I bought in April. However much I'd love to have a garden full, and I'd love to give them all a loving home, I don't want to be spending all evening cleaning poo from the patio!!! Just got to decide on names for them! FruitandNutCake
Well, I've only just got back and got them transfered from car to the chicken house, then put the kids to bed, so I haven't had chance to take any photos yet! Bless them, they looked so bewildered! They had only just reached the co-ordinator by the time I arrived. They have some feathers but are about 50% bald - and really prickly to hold! I'll take photos of them first thing tomorrow when I let them out into their run.

Ange1
I hope they had a nice first night's sleep of freedom? Lovely and sunny here in Northampton, I hope your new girls will feel the sun on their wings this weekend! Lovely.
FruitandNutCake
Only 2 have come out - Maisy managed to escape the run and ended up in the main shed with my original 3! I think the sight of her scared them as they ran out! My original ones are not happy as the Ex Batts are in their "nesting" room. They haven't stopped complaining since they woke up! Anyway, here is Maisy the brave one! First out and first to escape! Then the next one (Amelia) keeps coming and going in and out! I'll get photos of the other 2 when they come out! They seem so confused - Maisy couldn't work out there was food or water at first. I emptied the food out of the feeder into a tray, then Amelia walked over the tray and tipped it up! I noticed that Maisy is very dirty around her neck, and they smell awful. Do they clean themselves? I don't want t try to bath them in case they catch a cold!!!Maisy is also plucking herself. Egluntyne
They look alert. Maisie is in the same sort of physical condition that my girls were in when they arrived.

FruitandNutCake
I've decided to name the really bald one Sinead! So these are Annabelle and Sinead
Scooby
Aw bless their little cotton socks. I still get really upset when I see pictures of these lucky ladies. But pleased they are getting another chance at a normal, happy life
abwsco
Oh bless them. They are sooooo bald compared to how ours were when we got them. As for the smell I would think that as soon as they start having dustbaths it will go. Bet you're going to spend all day watching them
Egluntyne
Mine smelt awful at first. I gave them a dust bath with redmite powder and compost, and they loved it. Within a week or so the smell had gone. They knew what to do too, despite never having had the chance to dustbathe before. Amazing.
FruitandNutCake
I just wish it would warm up a bit - they must be really cold (probably why Annabelle and Sinead won't come out - I'll have to encorouge them a little otherwise they won't eat or drink. There isn't much room in their run to put a dustbath. Maybe in a couple of days when they are a bit more confident, I'll let them out into the big run whilst my original girls are out free ranging. Maisy has spread her wings a few times and flapped them a bit. Probably for the first time ever!
abwsco
Michelle, can you put food and water in their coop at all? that's what I did with mine first of all as well as out in the run.
MedusA
How lovely! Well done! The girls do look very bald, bless them. Thanks for the pics. Hope they all settle in quickly and enjoy doing chickeny things.
Egg Lou
They are lovely! love seeing the early pics as they must think they are in paradise! Hope they all settle well and feather up soon. Congratulation
FruitandNutCake
I've just "encouraged " Sinead out and she is eating a lot. But I noticed she is bleeding a little from one of the missing feather lumps on her wing. Maisey kept trying to peck at it, so I have shut Maisey inside, while Sinead is eating. I'm off to the horse shop in a minute to see if I can get some purple spray and a small dog bowl to put the food in the coop without it getting knocked over. I can then put the food and water in coop for a while so that the weaker ones don't have to go out for it.

FruitandNutCake
Just got back with the purple spray - and now have a purple hand as the first squirt dribbled over my hand - and it won't come off!!
