This is just an informal poll, I hope "Ooops, word censored!"ody will be offended, I'm just curious! Just wanted to know what if any the difference between number of women vs number of men who keep pet chickens.

I think it is the use of the word Angels....but why that should be I can't explain....after all Michael, Raphael, Gabriel etc were all chaps.

I'm a girl but not a girly one - hate skirts, high heels, makeup, perfume, handbags. I'm cheap to keep (apart from my chicken addiction ).

 

I think I knew Angels4 was a bloke - something in earlier posts, maybe, can't remember ?

I think I do build up a mental image of people who have posted (obviously wildly inaccurate!)

I see I actually wanted to be "Thumper" but it wasn't available so I asked my sister and she came up with angels 4 because I ordered 4 hens Which means the name theory makes sense...I thought it might have been something I said.

I too assumed 'Angels' would be female.

 

It's strange isn't it - I've met a few forum members, but I have a very distinct mental picture of some of the others who I haven't met, might be quite a shock to actually see them one day!

I'm definitely female (though I'd hesitate to describe myself as a girly ). But surely this poll is more an indicator of whether more men or women contribute to the forum, rather than keep chickens . Certainly in the early days my hubby was much more into the idea of keeping chickens and was the prime motivator for getting them.......I just went along with it, then got hooked with all the chattiness on the forum . He, to the very best of my knowledge has read a couple of posts on rare occasions...usually when I've pointed something out to him, and has never contrubuted. Tends to get very about the forum tbh

Kate you hit the nail right on the head...I know it reads "keep chickens" but in reality I wanted to know "contribute to the forum" and couldn't think how to phrase the question. Although I suspect even if it was a mans idea initially, more women would be the girls primary care giver.

Same with Him Indoors. He did join out of curiosity....around the time he thought I was having affair with Christian ......just to see what was going on, but hasn't darkened the door since.

 

I initially bought the hens for him though. Well that is my story and I'm sticking to it.

That was me Olly - because the only other Ollie I know is Kate's son
