crazygal
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help, I'm thinking about Christmas (I know I know! ) and I really wanted to get a turkey that has had a happy life. I remember seeing a fabulous turkey farm on Jimmy's Farming Heroes a while back, does anyone remember what the farm was called and whether I could order a turkey from them? If not, has anyone got any recommendations of where I could order a decent free range turkey that has had a good life. Many thanks!
Cinnamon
Hi, It is just a few miles from me! Copas Turkeys....should come up on Google. I think it was on Jimmys - they have certainly been featured on TV before, & the turkeys run around in apple orchards

dogs and chickens
We have had a kelly bronze turkey for the last two chritmas dinners and they have been amazing - best turkey any of us has ever had. Not cheap but that's to be expected of a free range well kept bird!
abwsco
I've not bought turkey for a few years. What price are you generally looking at for these?
Lewis
Have a look here, about 1/2 way down the page. They have kelly bronze turkeys, and a few other breeds. I have a number and other contact details if you PM me. They are in Staffordshire, I don't know where you are, we'll get our turkey from here. Shirl
We've had a Kelly's for the last few years. We go and collect because we can save a fair bit. They're local to us. Really tasty birds but I do wish they were organic.
jomaxsmith
I get mine from Farrowby Farm, near Baldock, Herts. They are free range and have a large paddock to roam. The farm has a nature trail going right past the turkeys and last year we were able to keep an eye on 'our' turkey as it grew! They are black feathered birds and very ugly, but delicious! I think ours cost around £45 for a 16lb bird last year. They had all grown bigger than expected so we got a bigger bird at no extra cost and had to go to the shops to find a bigger roasting tin on Christmas Eve! dogs and chickens
We've had a Kelly's for the last few years. We go and collect because we can save a fair bit. They're local to us. Really tasty birds but I do wish they were organic. The birds we have had for the last few years have been the Kelly bronze and we have ordered the organic version, so I guess they must do them or we would not have been able to get them. Last years bird was over £100 It was a wonderful big bird though (can't remember size, fed the 12 of us with so much to spare we were eating turkey for about 4 days after!). I will not be getting one this year as we don't have the money due to hubby's redundancy but next time we are having all the relatives for Christmas I will be buying another, hubby job dependant!
