Rhapsody
I think they should change the name of the 'Cheerful Soul' to the 'Blubbering Baggage' Nuff said.
Egluntyne
I agree. Her voice is like fingernails on a blackboard......I wouldn't want to spend an evening listening to that.
clootie
Will it be as good without Claret? What am I missing?
Egluntyne
She was in the opening secenes of last year's series.
Faye&Ant
Yep I have been watching and really glad that smug so and so has gone!!!! I must say I started off really disliking the two lads but they have entertained me thoroughly, its like watching Laurel & Hardy. I have a feeling they may win
..lay a little egg for me
This is the first time I've watched any of the programmes. Do the BBC pay for the restaurants etc? I assume the dismissed couples are not able to carry on regardless then? What happens to all their staff? I am amazed the two lads manage to keep holding on despite being in the challenge every week! If they win does Raymond put in proper front of house staff who know what they're doing?
clootie
So, did anyone watch the final last night? I thought the boys actually pulled it off as they had improved so much. I was surprised that The Cheerful Soul won tbh.
Egluntyne
I had a feeling that the Cheerful Soul would win, as Russell had the cooking skills and always remained calm. Alistair's "Front of House" skills were shambolic, but I'm betting James will get on well in the cooking world, as although he is an ill mannered and foul mouthed individual....he has passion for what he does. Michelle's "Front of House" ability was pretty dire too....and that voice ........, but she did seem a bit more capable than Alistair. What an odd collection of characters the contestants were. I wonder what became of last years winners?
Lesley
I agree with you both.....i thought the boys would go through as well. We keep wondering why there has been no update on the previous couple - I think someone said they are no longer with Raymond?
kannie
I thought the boys would win too. But I do think Michelle and Russell (who both had awful voices) had a clearer idea about their 'product's' identity. And more strength as a team (though the boys improved a lot in this area). Rhapsody
There was something about Russell, he had a look of steely focus in his eyes that showed his inner drive. His other half's voice and happy clappy/weepy demeanour gave me dry heaves.
WitchHazel
I thought all the couples this year were dire! I was convinced that James and Alistair would win, and I was preparing to throw the remote control at the TV in frustration. However, maybe Raymond learned from lastyear that arrogant partners aren't that good. Of the two couples, I'm pleased that it was the Cheerful Soul couple. Yes her voice is irritating, but they were basically nice enough people, they had a good concept and stayed true to their concept. If the restaurant opens near me, I'll go and visit it. I refused to go and visit last year's winners restaurant because they were so incredibly horrendous, as individuals and a couple. Their partnership with Raymond didn't work out. There is very little press about it, I saw a small piece on Le Manoir's website, for example. I think there was a small piece on the BBC websites omewhere too. Valkyrie
I think the guy was rather surprised that Raymond wanted to judge on his own - did you notice his eyebrows nearly hit the ceiling? Russell was sweet - his wife was very irritating. I thought the boys would get it though. I didn't want to watch, but DD was interested as it is her chosen profession (for now), and all we heard was "they shouldn't serve from that side" or "they should have done the knives and forks this way not that way". Heaven help us when her cooking takes off.
Shirl
I was rooting for Michelle and Russell as I know her uncle's family and they were very excited about them being on it they did actually appear on it themselves near the beginning. In fact it was the only reason why I watched at all. I didn't think Michelle's voice was annoying but maybe it's just because she's an Essex girl
poachedegg
I wonder what became of last years winners? From Wikipedia: Jeremy and Jane Hooper won The Restaurant. They were supported by Raymond Blanc and The Peach Pub company in opening and running a restaurant in Thame, Oxfordshire. Blanc was personally financially supporting the new restaurant, sinking a six figure sum into it. Formerly known as The Old Trout Inn,[15] it opened as Eight at the Thatch on 6 November 2007. After a period of maternity/paternity leave, Jeremy and Jane stepped down and left Eight at the Thatch, on 5 May, 2008 their brief tenure marked by reported rampant arguments and failure. So they only actually ran it for 6 months

I don't think Raymond Blanc will have the same problem with this season's winners somehow!
Shirl
Just had an email from my friend Michelle is on Harry Hill's TV burps on Saturday. Not that she has many fans on here wanting to tune in
Valkyrie
I'm sure Michelle is a lovely person, she seems bubbly enough. One of my friends used to sound irritating, but I don't notice it anymore - she's really nice and that's all that matters. I guess we all have our own faults. I wish them luck (I cheered at the result, tbh). I couldn't remember the last winners until Clootie mentioned the Eight. I liked the couple from Ghana that time. Their restaurant was opposite where OH and I worked - DD got rather irritated when we paused and showed her the building - silly parents, how could they possibly believe she could be interested.
