Egluntyne
What a surprise. After all that he has said about the public having 50% of the votes etc. Maybe he would have won. The only winners now are the bookies.
Guest
I am very sad. I don't really think he has the right to withdraw for no reason other than public pressure. I really wish he hadn't.

chelsea
I think James (cherie's partner - think he's called James) has been very rude about John on the BBC2 programme tonight He said John has been very selfish, and that he has made the show "all about him" And that "John is trying to be a hero" Dont think that's a fair thing to say at all. John was on the programme and said it was getting so bad now that people have been ringing his wife and telling her that he should apologise to Heather Small Claudia bless her tried her best to fight John's corner but she couldnt get a word in edgeways with James (not impressed with his attitude at all )

Seagazer
Actually I thought John was very rude to Christina in not comforting her when she was crying - he just carried talking about himself. Poor Claudia was trying to get him to giver her a hug, perhaps even a hand on her arm would have made her feel better. I also think that its unfair that they will still be getting rid of someone else this week. I liked it when they had 3 in the final.
Plum
I think John was very dignified in going now. I reckon Jodie will be lowest in judges votes this week. Cant wait for Sat night.

Poor Claudia was trying to get him to giver her a hug, perhaps even a hand on her arm would have made her feel better. I couldn't quite understand why he didn't hug her. She was genuinely upset and needed a hug. That said, I do understand why John has chosen to do what he has, though it would have been better to have left on a vote rather than a resignation. I too thought James was downright rude! I think both Claudia and Anton were surprised at his comments, given what he said on Saturday. I hope John has a lovely last dance on Saturday, come what may. He has been entertaining, whatever his dancing process (or lack thereof).
redbug
Sad that John has quit the show. Made me laugh and smile every time I saw him. Even though he was not very good at dancing but...far better than me.....
Tina C
I don't really watch Strictly (even when our local 'hero' was in it - by the way Mark Foster fans - I have NEVER seen him in St Neots but I never was very good at star spotting) I find it amazing that John has bowed out and that the judges were cross about him getting this far. The show is not just about dancing as they seem to want us to believe. Its mostly about celebrities. If they want it to be about dancing they should bring back the original Come Dancing Oh well, it gets the ratings up.
The Dogmother
Oh well, it gets the ratings up. I was being cynical yesterday and saying the same thing... it does make you wonder how much manipulation (by the Beeb) is going on behind the scenes to get the ratings up. chickencam
I heard on the radio this morning that JS has a cruise booked next week because he didn't expect to get this far
jlo
I caught the end of the Jeremy Vyne show today where people seemed to be calling to have their phone vote costs reimbursed! Oh my word - the things people can find to complain about. Mind you, I was under the mistaken impression that the money was going to charity anyway so what do I know? Paola
Mind you, I was under the mistaken impression that the money was going to charity anyway so what do I know? They are not allowed to I think because of something that happened with Blue Peter

I think that John is of that generation where he would have felt quite uncomfortable in giving Christina a hug. I don't really believe that he was being rude. Guest
It was a strange moment. John is so aware of the media that I suspect he was avoiding photos of him and Christina having a cuddle. He didn't want that sort of publicity.
Egluntyne
According to this mornings Daily Mail, Mrs Sargeant may have put her foot down with a firm hand. **Here**

Egluntyne
Just watched it this morning. John and Kristina were very dignified and deserved the standing ovulation. Didn't understand why Rachel's dance (which was fab) merited 4 tens, whilst Tom's Tango, which I thought even fabber, if that is a word, didn't warrant a single one. *Shrugs* Am loving Jodie and Ian too. I have to say I think Tom is consistently marked lower than Austin and I can never see any difference in their dancing. I think it must be very disheartening for poor old Tom. I made sure I voted for him twice last night.
