Snowy
Look what we found today (although I think this is only half of them - the rest have been rolled under the fridge ) Went for a walk around Rockingham Castle grounds and there were loads of little groves of horse chestnuts. The boys had a field day and filled all my bags with conkers. Great fun! Now I just need some ideas of what to do with them
Tessa the Duchess
They are lovely when they are all new and shiny, it's a shame you can't eat them. Tessa
BeckyBoo
My bag is full of them too Apparently if you put them in the corners of your room they keep spiders away - no idea if that's true or not I once sat next to someone in the hairdressers who was having highlights and lowlights in her dark brown shiny short bob and she came out looking EXACTLY like a conker! I LOVE the colours in conkers and would LOVE to have my hair those colours Mrs B
jlo
I am just worried that some of them may hit my girls in the garden. Might be a bit of a bigger bang than chicken licken got!
Snowy
They are fabulous colours aren't they? Maybe Rachel19 could paint them next!

Lesley
Holiday tree? - like a Christmas tree? We knew all too well that it is conker time - I should have taken a photo of Jake's face when he visited yesterday and wanted to drag his Daddy off to the edge of the main road for conkers He was told he had to wait until they went home when they could stop in the lay-by a bit further along and pick them up safely.....he spent an hour looking like this I remember collecting conkers with my sister one year when we were staying at my Gran's - we took Grandad's wheelbarrow to the churchyard nextdoor
Seagazer
My MIL said that they keep the spiders away she has them on the windowsills. She absolutely hates spiders, once she didn't have a bath for a few days because she had seen a spider in the bathroom - eeww I love conkers, will take YS hunting soon. chickencam
Here ia a picture of my ED standing next to the tree that grew from a conker that she planted in a pot during the first autumn that she was at school when she was five, the tree is now 10 years old and my Dad planted it in the grounds of the stately home where is was head gardener when it was about 3 years old. He is now retired but still lives there and we go to visit the tree at least once a year this was taken at the end of August as you can tell y the bad light and the raincoat that she is wearing
Angels4
Holiday tree? - like a Christmas tree? While growing up our tree went up the week of our Thanksgiving and was kept intact and changed throughout Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. So we called it the holiday tree.
