The Weather Thread

I totally understand Lesley, we're the same here. I'm thinking about painting a box yellow and having it peeking out of the trees. I did speak to the police and apparently there has to be a fatal road accident before they'll look at lowering the speed limit here!! So many crashes but thankfully, no deaths....yet.

Oops, it's not too cold here at the mo. Freezing last night but just damp this morning so far.

Heavy frost with a light dusting of snow flakes -3 when I let the chooks out and their water was frozen 1cm thick. I broke the ice and fished the bits out with my bare hands - fingers still tender now - thinking bits of ice not good for chickens next think I know they are all pecking at the bits and enjoying ice lollies for breakfast, so much for the warm water I had brought for them :lol:

Sky very heavy and snow coloured but too cold for that and none forecast :(

Cold, dull, boring here.

Went to check how the new chooks were doing and to take some sultana/raisin treats for all of them. As soon as I opened the door of their enclosure all the old-timers rushed out into the garden for freedom. The four Norwich girls stayed there looking perplexed at the exodus as they enjoyed the whole bag of dried grapes!

Must keep an eye on my escapees as they like to wonder around the frozen pond and sometimes the ice is too thin. Betty had a lucky escape last year as I rescued her before she sank into the frozen waters...

Hi Everyone

What a day, mist and freezing fog in places around the Preesall area, a very light dusting of snow during the day, High of 0 degrees.

A trip to the dentist because I broke a capped tooth at the gum so has an unexpected extraction.

Nice way to finish the year !!!

Lets hope that the New Year for hens everywhere can be great and also for the owners.

Best wishes for 2009.

Ian

With 30 minutes left until 2009, the snow has stopped after dropping 7inches of snow in our fair town.............right now the temp outside is 5degrees fahrentheit or for my friends in the UK minus15degrees Celsius  Brrrrrrrrrrr :!::!::!: If you add the bitter cold wind chill factor it is -13F or -25C

Only 80 more days until spring

Ooooh! Snow! 8)

At 8pm last night we still had the permafrost and freezing fog and I was telling my son to drive carefully as he was designated driver for the night for his friends..........by 2am when we went to bed it was positively balmy

No frost, no ice, no fog  - I stood outside in a T shirt listening to the owls in the willow tree.

Slight frost this morning but much warmer than yesterday.
