I think we are nearly as excited as him! Never been away for Christmas before.

Egluntyne
For once I am a bit organised. Cards bought, present shopping well underway. A bit too early methinks to order the turkey and the tree......but the time will be upon us soon enough.
Lesley
How could I not start to become excited? - Christmas Birthday? I have been cooking (not sprouts! - for hampers) and have bought some presents. I will be making cards with Lauren and Jake during half-term. Chook n Boo Mum
I too am trying to get organised - huge pot of apple chutney on the stove as I type for hampers, apple jelly dripping everso slowly in the bowl by the computer draped with a duvet cover to keep dust & fruit flies away!! Katie got a bag weaving gizmo for Christmas last year & I thought we might make up some gift bags for the goodies using that - and that could be my craft idea for the local hospice on Friday, multi tasking again !! Have been collecting stockingy type of bits & bobs since last Christmas (!) , and will hopefully break the back of the children's cards at least over half term as they are staggered over a 2 week period! We have lots of birthdays over the lead-up to Crimble; Katie's (DD) is 24th November, DH is 8th Dec, I am 29th Dec & Toby (DS) is 12th Jan . Can you see why I try to be organised with buying early?! I have a Humbug for a hubby though, he thinks the tree should go up on Christmas Eve & come down on Boxing Day - misgog!! He's out of luck this year, I have agreed to do the decorations for the hotel, which will have to be up for the first Christmas party (please please please we get some bookings ). It's all very tasteful, but I have to get them out in the next month or so, so I can check them over & make whatever needs replacing, as I have a total aversion to all things tinselly . Think that's enough for now...too much Festive thought at this time of the morning could lead to an outbreak of carol singing - his nibs would not be pleased!!! Mrs Frugal
I haven't done anything yet . I will be cooking for hampers soon though and that's great fun . I haven't decided on a card design for this year yet either but the Christmas cards will be in full production soon too. It'll soon be Stir Up Sunday as well so the house will smell of mincemeat and Christmas Pudding . This year will be extra special for us as we'll be having a really big family Christmas with my brother's lovely new family .
Snowy
I've started the hamper cooking! Also got a couple of pressies already - there are a few craft fairs coming up so intend to do the rest of my christmas shopping there

I have put too much pressure on myself in the past so am going to be kinder this year. I am going to make my cake, last year we had to scrimp to get enough eggs. I am sure the girls will be able to muster up eggs for me and I can freeze some. I make cards for Mikey ( 1 from me and one from Daisie and the gang) and parents and Michael's sister and partner. Anything else will be a bonus but I will do some baking Buffie x
hillfamily
Ahhhhhhhhh...........a sanctuary where we can talk Christmas without people going So much to say..........but I must first complete the Ocado order, then pop to round to Mum to help her with a few bits, then collect from DS from college, then finish throwing junk out of the loft............then I can come back have a good natter about Christmas :D :D :D
chickenanne
... Did I just hear someone say "Christmas decorations" and "tasteful" in the same sentence...? What is the world coming to? Tsk, young people today....Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without Dad demanding the loo-roll-fairy be resurrected. It's more just loo-roll-cardboard-inner than fairy now, after (of dear) 30 years hard service. Nicest tree I saw, ever, was decorated in white flowers in teeny glass vases, with some tiny chrystal baubles studded around. Must've cost a fortune, but was very pretty. hillfamily
Just booked our Panto tickets for Christmas Eve We've been going every year for about the last 11 years My Dad used to take me, DD and DS on Boxing Day as a treat and after he died, we carried on the tradition but go on Christmas Eve so the day passes quicker I did think about not going this year as DS and DD are now 16 and 14 and seem to have very busy social lives. You should have seen the looks they gave me when they asked if I had booked yet and I mentioned that perhaps they didn't want to go anymore ......... well I have be properly told that they will always want to go to Panto no matter how old they are
The Dogmother
I'm afraid that I'm not very organised will be working until the last minute as usual, but thought this morning that I ought to get some Christmas cards sorted. I have laid by some preserves for the Christmas bags though. Our Christmas Chicken has been 'necked' and is in a freezer... does that count? BeckyBoo
Ooooh, Christmas, can't wait! Have been cooking for christmas hampers and the like, although most of the family have already scrounged a few jars here and there so hampers may not be approrpiate for all of them now Still got to make cake and puddings and mincemeat, weekend after next I think, I always cheat and buy cards, I don't have tine to make them and the children get bored after one or two, Christmas shopping will have to be strictly budgeted this year but I normally go with my Dad who loves staggering round the shops loaded with bags! Couldn't afford panto last year, five of us cost near on £100 to get in I'll try this year but it's the old cash crisis again! Mrs B
Egluntyne
Did a trial run of Cranberry Curd at the w/e....that will definitely be made again to give as gifts.
hillfamily
although most of the family have already scrounged a few jars here and there we must have the same family and friends..........will have to slap their hands if they run off with any yummy goodies Couldn't afford panto last year, five of us cost near on £100 to get in I'll try this year but it's the old cash crisis again! It does add up - never cheap for a large family to go and some theaters charge a fortune for a mediocre performance .........we go to local panto , and book early to get 10% discount, so managed to get tickets for 4 for £58 this year and there's £37 towards it in the egg selling pot
chickencam
I am normally a last minute panic kind of gal, but when I sorted out the present cupboard to see what we had got for ED's birthday I wrote out a list of possible pressies and found that we are pretty sorted for most people. I now just need to wory about what to get for the children, one of whom has just had a birthday and another has one in mid November. We are going to see most of our relatives the weekend before Christmas so will have to be organised by them because we come back the day before Christmas Eve. I love Christmas but hate the commercial side of it , it should be a cosy family time with nice food, that the bit that I like. We usually sit down on a wet weekend sometime mid November and have a big family Christmas card making session, it can get quite competative and messy though
Mutrix Farmers
Mum asked what we all wanted for Christmas when I spoke to her on Monday!! Started to think about making cards, but thinking is as far as it got! Did buy a Christmas persent last week when I went shopping in Canterbury! Now it's October I had better start planning. Decided to give everyone food hampers this year, not sure how much will be homemade as my forays into chutney and jam making haven't been too successful in the past!! Seagazer
I love Christmas I bought myself a Christmas apron whilst I was in garden centre in Ashford at the weekend. I've also talked my mum into having a budgie as a christmas present (I would love one but I think it would be too much temptation for Dave). This has helped brother and sister as they can go halves on the cage I make about 9 cards (cross stitch) for close family members and buy the rest. I was thinking of making a christmas pudding but as I'm the only one who eats it, it would probably be a waste of time. I try to buy presents as I see them but then I tend to forget where I've put them Or I think I've got it all done just to remember that the relative has a birthday before Christmas so I have to go out again! freddie
My kids have both got their birthdays in December; (nothing to do with me, have you noticed!!), si we do nothing about Christmas until after the 20th... That hypes it all up a bit, with only 4 days to go!! Makes it better though as the holly is still shiny, and has berries attached, rather than on the floor............. and the balloons are still "taught!" I've not got any food yet as i'm hoping my Mum will invite us for Christmas when we stay with her in a couple of weeks. Oh, and my Christmas list is already written, OH has learnt to get what's on the list and not to improvise.
