redhotchick
Sounds like a very bright and creative child! Here's another little gem A lady asks the butcher if he has any offcuts that she can take home for the dog. Small child pipes up "Oh goody we're getting a dog" It's an old one, but I bet someone did say it!

Seagazer
Thats so sweet. When I was little I had lots of nightmares and I used to pretend I was watching a television and that if I changed the channel the nightmare would go. It used to work
Duckmomma
She is a sweetheart, she used to have night terrors till we discovered that making sure she didn't go to sleep with socks or tights on stopped them. I know it sounds daft but it works, some times cooling the feet with a damp flannel can stop them

Seagazer
I wish I'd known that a few years back for ES, he always had terrible nightmares. He didn't like sleeping in the bed with me and hubby though but would bring his quilt in and sleep on the floor next to me. This went on for years. I never minded because of all the times I had bad dreams as a child. He's grown out of it now, thank goodness.
KimmyCustard
OH, YSD and myself were shopping in Guildford yesterday. YSD sees guide dogs for the blind being worked, wearing their yellow jackets etc. She then says: How do blind people drive? OH says: They have to wait for the dog to bark twice for right and once for left. She says: How do they tell the blind person to stop then?! Fair point................... Duckmomma
Kimmy that is soooo sweet I sometimes wish we could all occasionally see the world through childrens eyes Sea gazer was it nightmares or night terrors your son suffered from? Night terrors are awfull, the child never remembers them but the parents certainly do, it's like the child is awake, they may sit up and there eyes are open and will sometimes back away if you approach them. You can't wake them and feel totaly helpless, they look terrified. I am so glad my grandaughter no longer has them (fingers crossed) since we discovered the trick of not allowing her feet to become too warm when she goes to sleep
Seagazer
I think ES's were nightmares but you have reminded me about YS. When he was a bit younger he used to scream sometimes and be sat upright, with his eyes open and skin cold and clammy. I would talk to him but he wouldn't respond. All I would do would be to gently lay him back down and he would close his eyes and go back to sleep. I had completely forgotten about that. Thankfully it didn't happen very often. He had a nightmare this week actually and jumped into bed with us. He never stays long though.
