Mystery shopping

Recommended Posts

:lol::lol::lol:

Yes, I got the assignment details through this morning,so I know where to go & what to do.

Its all very complicated actually, & I am going to have to try & remember a lot of things, but I am looking forward to it.

Knowing me I will go into the wrong place or something :lol:

Do you just lurk and observe or do you have to be deliberately awkward to see how they handle it?

I have to go & ask specific questions about products/services.

I need to remeber details like how long it took for them to serve me,the staff members name, hair colour & even the buildings on either side of the one I need to go in to.

I am pretty observant,& having managed a shop myself for many years,I know the sort of level of service thats expected. Plus I love shopping,so reckon I will be pretty good at this :lol:

As soon as I saw the title I thought what a great job for a committed shopper :D

It is not an easy job to do though especially these days when staff are clued up about mystery shoppers.

And you know what often happens when you start a job that is also a 'hobby' - you lose interest in the hobby. Could save you some money in the long run? :D

I've done one assignment, but I found that it was an awful lot of work for £10. Pages and pages of questions, and as I get tired with my M.E anyway I decided it's not really worth it for me. The only assignments I keep getting offered are for the same company I did the initial spy on anyway and as I'm on a prehistoric very noticeable mobilty scooter I recon I'd look a bit suss going in there again and asking lots of questions. I was hoping for lots of restaurant assignments but they are obviously not popular over in Suffolk

Me too - none in London either!

I also got a bit hacked off because they send me endless notifications of new assignments, and when I clicked to look they'd already gone! Must be loads of people sitting at computers in the city waiting to grab a little mystery in their lives!

How cool, you will have to let us know how it goes (in disguise obviously  )

I signed up ages ago but the only assignment I got through was to stand in line at the postoffice - in lunchtime - an hour queuing wasnt what I had planned for some excitement so I didnt accept it ...

Maybe thats why I havent had anything else through

I made about £200 from it last year, but think it is a lot of effort for the work. I had to do a self assessed tax form so only got my £400 overpaid tax back last week when I completed it.

If you want any advice, PM.

I found it got a lot easier as the questions are pretty similar and you only have to remember one or two obscure ones such as is a specific poster on the wall. You have to remember names and I always forget to look at my watch before I go in.

The best paid ones were banks, I got around £45 for mortgage visits in a bank and competitor. I got virgin gym membership for about 2 months and that was worth £40-£50 per month and really lovely. I had to have a beauty treatment too. :D

I've done loads of MS. Last year I even MS'd Santa! I've done restaurants, banks, shops, hairdressers well loads really. Although they seem hard at first you get used to what you need to be looking out for and the timings etc. I don't do them much now because I used to prefer the restaurants, hairdressers etc and those aren't jobs you can do with children in tow so they became less convenient.

Some have really long questionnaires and just aren't worth doing whereas some you get only a few questions and are easy. Take the hairdressers, you night get £65 of vouchers to get a hair cut and then 20 questions to answer. Well to me that is a great deal. The rpoblem would be when I'd get a call to do one and I'd only had my hair cut the week before. I'd have to turn it down or I'd have ended up bald!

This should be interesting. There's not many places nowadays who know what customer service means let alone provide it. One of my pet hates actually. I even find I become immediately suspicious if I receive anything like a decent service where staff are helpful, smiling and interested in me. I feel there must be a catch !!

Ah ha! So that is how we can get good service...pretend to be a mystery shopper! If we go into the shops in a long raincoat, false moustache and trilby and then ask lots of odd questions, would that do the trick do you think?

No you'll be carted off to the funny farm! I'd have thought checking your watch a lot might help with one or 2 questions about the menu.
