Cinnamon
I thought I had experience of hens moulting, but nothing has prepared me for the sight of our poor Lemon Cuckoo Pekin Sherbert, who has gone from being a sphericl ball of feathers to a scrawny little rat in 3 days flat She looks TERRIBLE, & is obviously feeling a bit sorry for herself as she is nowhere near as fiesty as usual. We cleaned them out on Sunday & today you literally cannot see the Aubiose in the litter tray for fluffy yeallow feathers It is really quite alarming
Egluntyne
It is quite a shock isn't it. A couple of my gingernuts are moulting big time at the moment. The run is such a mess and they look deadful. What a time of year to discard your clothing.
Cinnamon
I know. Its the one time of year you need your fluffy knickers on!

Karen & co.
I have the same problem with my black cochin she looks so tiny and s"Ooops, word censored!"py at the moment, her tail is gone (wasn't huge to start with ) even some of her leg feathers She trotted down the cube ramp the other day, shook and lost so many I did a double take of them floating off her Karen x
Cinnamon
Even Sherberts face has moulted
Helly Welly
Most of mine are moulting too, the garden is covered in feathers. Poor Ruby had a seriously receding hairline but they are growing back now. I'm giving them cat food every day until they've finished. I'm lucky to get three eggs from 7 chickens at the mo
Flo
Mine have started to moult too, my Miss Pepperpots feathers are everywhere! She is being very tidy and picking lots of them up to put in the nest. Is it usual for them to moult at this time of year?
Seagazer
I did a big clean out at the weekend and there did seem to be an awful lot of feathers. Would it be because its been quite warm recently?
Snowy
My big Bertha is doing the same - she looks dreadful! Normally the biggest, bossiest pepperpot, now she looks like a hedgehog with all her new bristles coming through and is very subdued! little chickadee
It's our original flock's first moult at the moment and the garden looks like there has been some kind of massacre! They are looking a bit rubbish, but not bald. I don't know where all the feathers are coming from
koo2cat
Can I ask how long it takes for their feathers to grow back after a moult (or feather plucking!!!)
Omletina Kyckling
My gingers have suddenly started to moult in the past few days....I looked in the cube this morning and it looked like somebody had tipped the contents out of a pillow!! I was surprised that they'd moult in autumn, somehow I thought it'd be spring!
