Redwing
Fizzle Knit you are so splendidly sneaky!
poachedegg
I've another idea. Post the preloved link here, then we'll all contact the rabbit hutch rustler to arrange viewings, not turn up of course, and put him/her to some inconvenience Fab idea, however I have just returned from our son's confirmation and am full of goodwill at the moment, so it wouldn't be very christian of me. keyhole kate
Sorry I wouldn't be able to help myself I would have to (a) confront them (b) report them to preloved © let everyone on my freecycle group & mods know who they are and shame them Grrrr I hate Liars Tip of the day : you can watch a thief you cant watch a Liar
Egluntyne
I rather like Fizzle Knit's idea.
Redwing
Another warning about using freecycle/small ads - I advertised a box of various bits and bobs on freecycle and had a reply, I emailed my address for collection but I kept getting emails saying they couldnt find me on their satnav and could they have my mobile number? I kept sending detailed instructions rather than my number but eventually sent my mobile no in frustration (they kept apologising and saying they were trying hard to find me on maps/satnav/internet etc.. so seemed dim but genuine) Then the premium rate text messages started.........it cost me money to receive them and then to stop them Needless to say they didn't turn up for my stuff! riane
What goes around comes around....they will get theirs!!
jackiepoppies
Unfortunately there is sometimes also a rather nasty side to this. Some addicts of various substances use this method to raise funds to feed their habits. So sad. Jackiex
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Jeez Redwing! That's outrageous! Is that legal?! There are so many rude and ungrateful grabby people on freecycle. Now I make sure they send me an email telling me why they want the item, and that it is written in clear, polite English. I never respond to overly txt spk freecycle emails. They tend to be from the grabby and criminally dim ilk in my area, alas! It sorts some wheat from some chaff, but dodgy texts and resellers - ooooh!!! That's a whole other league. chickencam
Grrr I hate dishonesty The thing about mobile numbers is worrying because I always give my mobile number rather than the ex-directory home number is we are expecting deliveries etc. It is a pay as you go mobile with not much credit usually but OH does the same sometimes and he has a contract phone
Leicester_H
unfortunately they know where we live (as they collected), so not sure that I would be comfortable reporting them. Yes - but its one thing to scam someone, and another to threaten you, damage your property or whatever. I suspect they're like bullies - wouldn't actually do anything. If you can pluck up courage you SHOULD report them. H
Emma Tarpey
They should definately be banned
Cooks
I would report them, otherwise they will just keep doing the same thing over and over to everyone else.
poachedegg
I would report them, otherwise they will just keep doing the same thing over and over to everyone else. As I have said previously, as they haven't shown any scruples in this matter, if I did report them, then I may be opening myself to other issues - they collected from our house, so they obviously know where we live. Whilst I agree they should be reported to prevent them doing it again, first and foremost, I have to think of my family.
Cooks
yes I know what you you said previously, I said what I would do if I was in that situation. edited to add, I would still advise you to report them at some point though, maybe let things settle, see if they are claiming a lot of stuff and then report them. They cannot link it to you or your family then.
poachedegg
yes I know what you you said previously, I said what I would do if I was in that situation. Sorry, didn't know you had seen what I had previously put.
Steph101
Absolutely disgusting! What vultures, taking advantage of someone's charitable nature! I've done the same thing though; I've given people toys and bags of clothes, and I've found out later that they sold them on car boot sales! Blimmin' cheek! Cooks
yes I suspect my last lot ended up on the carboot sale it's really very hard to tell who to give items to.
Tessa the Duchess
Absolutely disgusting! What vultures, taking advantage of someone's charitable nature! I've done the same thing though; I've given people toys and bags of clothes, and I've found out later that they sold them on car boot sales! Blimmin' cheek! I totally disapprove of the people who lied about the rabbit hutch, giving an untrue sob story is just wrong. However it does not bother me at all if somebody picks up a bag of clothes or toys and then re-sells them, the whole point of Freecycle is to stop stuff going to landfill. I suppose if this really bothers you, the best thing to do is to give stuff to a charity shop where it will be sold for a good cause. Cooks
yes I agree, but most of the people obtain these clothes and toys by giving some form of false story. They would hardly say I am going to sell them on the carboot.. but a lot do.
