Guest
We are predicted more than 5cm of rain today. As predicted the rain started at about 9am and will go on for about 12 hours. It is windy and quite chilly too, although apparently 12 degrees outside. At some point I will have to wade out to collect some eggs
buffie
Hands are like ice, going to get some soup on the hob now and will have to brave the outdoors for walk 2 later and yes to collect eggs...brrr Buffie x
The Dogmother
Well, it is still pouring, and when I went home for lunch there were areas of standing water on my lawn, which normally drains so well as I'm on a hill. I just heard that the Cherwell is on flood alert.... wonder if the sports centre will be flooded again?
buffie
We're supposed to be sunny for the rest of the week but ground is so boggy now I've cancelled my hen party. Anyway hope it dries up where you are Buffie x

The Dogmother
It seems to have slowed up here for now. I saw the forecast yesterday and tomorrow is more of the same - heavy showers interspersed with rain and outbreaks of light drizzle
chickencam
It has stopped raining here at the moment but still very dreary, it was nice to get out into the fresh air though to feed the chickens and collect YD from school, I saw quite a few little ones splashing in puddles in their wellies which is always lovely to watch
Guest
Our fields are flooding and I am expecting the water to cover the lane by this evening. It went from a few large puddles to a flooded field in 30 minutes
Valkyrie
Absolutely dire here. Non-stop rain - quite heavy - and very windy, but not as bad as last night. Went to Basingstoke this morning and the floods were forming - goodness knows how bad it must be now. The end of the garden is waterlogged so much that it is beginning to look like a huge paddling pool (although the cube and run is slightly higher and drier. The girls have spent the day in the top half of the garden resembling drowned rats - moorhens rather than chick hens! As they were trying to shelter under a little table, I opened up the greenhouse for them. That did the trick, along with some pellets and raisins and they happily preened for ages, venturing out for grass nibbles and going back in after. Cinnamon
Our stream burst its banks, as all that rain water flowed into it The garden is a lovely boggy mess today, & I have someone coming to view the Cube at 10 Oh, & they never did come to clear the drain blockage ....my husband had to do it
buffie
Oh that's awful Sarah. I have to say it's glorious here today, Bright blue sky and a nice breeze. Hope it all starts to dry out. Buffie x
Old Speckled Hen
It is SOOOOOOOO WINDY here. There is a rookery in the field opposite and I'm always amazed how they manage to stay in the branches. At least the gale should blow all the leaves off the neighbour's huge oak tree and I can stop raking at last The farmhouse up the road has scaffolding up one wall and I've just heard some come crashing down. Cinnamon, awful about the flooding, I hope it hasn't come into the house. What a nation of extreme weather we are becoming!!!

Angels4
I had to travel to Maine for work this week and the weather is freezing cold (calling for snow). I spoke to my sister last night and the weather is beautiful breezy and warmer. Why don't they ever send me to Florida for work?
