Films on Christmas Day

Recommended Posts

I still haven't seen It's a Wonderful Life :roll::roll:

Right, you MUST watch it this Christmas,& that is an order young man!

That goes for the rest of you too

Believe me,you will love it & I suspect there will be a few tears shed 8)

:D Totally agree with you there Sarah, I was going to type almost the same words last night. :D

I cry every time, but also associate the film with making mince pies & relaxing properly with family for the first time each Christmas, as it's often shown Christmas eve or near.

Hope it's on this year!

Yes to Oliver, Great Escape & others mentioned so far.

It used to be Sound of Music for me, always shown in the holidays, but maybe it's too familiar for me now. Oh go on, maybe once more then.

Anyone know which films are on christmas day this year?

According to the BBC website this is what's on the beeb this Christmas

Christmas specials for Gavin And Stacey, The Royle Family, Strictly Come Dancing, Shooting Stars, My Family, Rab C Nesbitt, Peter Serafinowicz and Lead Balloon all feature in a talent-packed Christmas schedule, which also includes Top Of The Pops one-offs on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve, and a Top Gear special from Vietnam.

Blackadder also returns for a one-off documentary – Blackadder Rides Again.

Mesmerising music and performance feature on BBC Two and BBC Four with sumptuous fairytale opera Hansel And Gretel; the New Year's Day Concert, live from Vienna; composer Howard Goodall exploring The Truth About Carols and acclaimed actor Simon Russell Beale telling the story of one of the most popular pieces of sacred music ever written in Sacred Music: The Story Of Allegri's Misere.

Thrilling drama comes courtesy of The 39 Steps starring Rupert Penry Jones; a very special edition of Doctor Who; spine-tingling ghost story Crooked House; as well as an explosive Christmas cracker for the Mitchells in EastEnders.

Wallace And Gromit return to the small screen with a special new adventure for BBC One, A Matter Of Loaf and Death.

Lark Rise To Candleford is also back with a captivating seasonal tale and Alan Davies reprises his role as Jonathan Creek with an exciting new mystery to solve.

There's a spectacular selection of films, including the television premieres of Shark Tale, Wallace And Gromit In The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit, Superman Returns, The Chronicles Of Narnia – The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, Pirates Of The Caribbean – Dead Man's Chest, Madagascar and Starter For Ten.

I am especially looking forward to Doctor Who, Jonathan Creek, Wallace and Gromit! I'm going to see if I can find out what's on the other channels . . .

Oh, and The Snowman is my Christmas film choice. And I too have never seen Its a Wonderful Life

The Snowman - My DS loves the Snowman

The Muppet Christmas Carol

Scrooged, haven't seen this for a few years

Also when the children were small the Beeb did a drama called The Greatest Store in the World which we recorded and watched every Christmas for quite a few years.

I have to say we watched It's a Wonderful life a few years back and it didn't really do it for us.

We don't usually watch HRH either.

Looking forward to Dr Who Christmas special and Strictly :D

First time I ever watched Some Like It Hot was at about 3am christmas/boxing day

Modern stuff I usually bring out this time of year:

Elf

Labyrinth

Nightmare Before Christmas

Lovely time to snuggle down all warm on the sofa with a nice alcoholic beverage in your hand! :)

OMG! Christian and Egluntine, you must remedy that!

I must have watched it a thousand times. I think it is the most life-affirming film ever.:oops::oops:

Can I just add The Snowman to my list too? How could I forget it? I think it was made the year DD was born and we watch it every year. I always cry like a baby at the end. DD has the piano score and plays excerpts from it every year for me and we warble "Walking in the Air" together. Heavens knows what the neighbours must think!:shock::shock:

I might find it to watch this afternoon while I make my quince cheese.

Can anybody tell me what Elf is?
