Films on Christmas Day

Recommended Posts

It's a Wonderful Life is my top "must see" film. Makes me cry every time.

I also like to watch, if I'm able:

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Gremlins

Miracle on 34th Street

Love Actually

Meet Me in St. Louis

The Bishop's Wife

The Apartment

We also have to read A Christmas Carol and The Night Before Christmas to each other.

Haven't watch HRH for years, I'm afraid.

What's your tradition and what's on the MUST SEE list?

Does anybody watch HRH any more?

We have a family tradition that presents will only be exchanged after the Queens Speech. Children have their stockings in the morning so they have something to play with. Then by the time we've been to church and finished dinner it's 3pm anyway.

Must see films - The Great Escape, Its a Wonderful Life and Indiana Jones

My mum and I always watch The Snowman together. It came out the year I was born and when I was about 3 apparently I watched it happily all the way to the end where I then burst out into fits of inconsolable tears.

Now we watch it every year and start to cry from the moment it starts, with a break in the middle during the happy bits, then I well up again as soon as the little boy goes outside the next morning...

So sad! (me, not the film!)

I don't necessarily watch them on Christmas Day but definitely in the run up to Christmas

Love Actually (already watched this last week).

Muppet Christmas Carol - brilliant

Elf - I love this film

Miracle on 34th Street (both films black & white and colour seem to have disappeared  from my house)

Its a Wonderful life - watched it for the first time last year - brilliant

Santa Clause 1,2 & 3 at a push.

I have so many Christmas films, The holiday (lovely), Jingle All the Way and Jack Frost.

I am a complete film addict. :D

Edited to add that I'm afraid we don't watch the Queen's Speech :?

:D I always love to watch Christmas Carol a week or so before the big day[the older version with Alec Guiness] It puts me inthe right Christmassy spirit and the It's a wonderful world nearer the day. I don't really get much chance to watch any TV over the Christmas period itself as I have relatives here.

I still haven't seen It's a Wonderful Life :roll::roll:

Me neither. :D

Nor me :D....perhaps we should have an Omlet Film Night!

Me neither! Always miss it for some reason.

My list is not Christmassy, but absolutely have to watch The Great Escape, The Italian Job (the original) and The Sound of Music.

Went to a Singalong Sound of Music evening earlier this year, thought I had died and gone to heaven, it was absolutely brilliant! :)

I watched while you were sleeping last week too - I wasn't doing much apart from watching films (my excuse is that YS and I were ill). It is one of my favorite films ever. A lovely romantic comedy

I know its such a lovely christmassy film to watch and I always end up crying at the wedding bit!!

I love The Snowman, my daughter (24 years) still cries every time she watches it :)

We also love One Magic Christmas an old disney film, this one makes us cry too! :)

Like many others I still haven't seen "It's a Wonderful life". :(

I can't wait for my week off over christmas when I can snuggle down on the sofa and watch old movies all day. :)
