Cuckoos Nest
Shocking reading. I'm glad things appear to be being taken seriously by the school/police, I just hope it isn't just "lip service", and things fizzle out as they do in so many cases like this. I fear that any punishment is unlikely to fit the crime though. My thoughts are with you both,
Cooks
just caught up with this, so so sorry to hear your sad news. Such sickening acts like this leave me totally speechless as I cannot comprehend why anyone would want or feel the need to hurt a defenceless animal so so sorry
Plum
Just seen this. Its sickening. My heart goes out to you both.
piptiddlepip
I hope that the RSPCA prosecute - and if they don't, is it possible for you to bring a private prosecution against this scumbag? So sorry for your loss. I too hope someone wrings this idiot's neck for him. Cruelty to animals is the product of a very small, unintelligent mind. beach chick
this kind of thing makes you despair... what kind of home must that boy come from? hope you are all starting to feel a bit better and that the police and school keep on the case. The Dogmother
I am glad to hear that the police and school are treating this seriously Matthew. I know that it doesn't help with your shock and grief though. Please don't delay getting some new chooks to be companions for the lonely girl. I have a spare eglu at the moment if you want to borrow it for introductions.

Ygerna
what shameful behaviour. Sickening. I dread to think what sort of adult he will become. So very sorry to read of this.
Mutrix Farmers
So sorry to hear this. I'm glad the headmistress is being supportive. It's important to stand up to these yobs and she quite clearly isn't frightened by him. I hope you and OH are getting over the shock. Please be assured that not all teenagers are mindless thugs, they are a tiny minority. Much love and hugs to you both.

mrs chook
Having just lost my first girlie, through natural causes, I am sat reading your ordeal with tears running down my face. I am SO very sorry to hear about such a dispicable act, and what a truly horrific experience for you both and your chooks. I am glad to read the updates and hope that the B...... that did this gets their comeuppance and takes a long serious look at themselves. I hope you get some positive action, it sounds like the other kids, the school and the police are helping which I am really pleased to read. Good luck with getting some more girls and I hope you both have a much happier experience with your chooks from now on. xx

Guest
what a sick individual, hope he gets what he deserves. Ask your local crime prevention officer to survey your property and tell you what security precautions you need, get him/her to put it in writing, then get approx costs and present it to the headmistress. It's good that they are offering to pay up although it should be this yob's parents who should be accountable! It's really good though that they are taking a stand, hope the RSPCA prosecute to the full extent of their capabilities! Be strong (we're all here if you need to talk) and see this through for the sake of your own peace of mind and the memory of your little Momo, so sorry this has happened to you xxx
jlo
I have only just caught up with this thread and am so sorry to hear your awful ordeal. The worrying thing is that children who act this way towards animals often become sadistic adults. I really hope that something is being done about this boy. It sounds as though he is already "in the system." In court recently there was an eleven year old prosecuted for killing a duck. He hit it with a stick to see whether it would stand up! The police did get involved with it and he is receiving some help. Maybe the same could happen with this youth!
Matthew
Well.. We are now the proud owners of two more chickens... ... they are already living together in our eglu with an extended run ...Thank you so much Clare for the use of the eglu.... made the whole thing much less stressful and am sure our confidence meant the whole introduction went smoothly. A few ruffled feathers and alonso puffing her chest out but the pecking order has been established and all are eating if not at the same time lol... And we have now completed the song Kate and I were singing in Athens in 2007 just before we got the first pair by naming the new ones Stevi and Masch... "We got the greatest chickens (midfield) in the world We got Xabi Alonso (had) momo sissoko, Stevie and Mascheran-no-oh-o (We got Xabi alonso, momo sissoko, Gerrard and Mascheran-no-oh-o) I'll be back with pics as soon as
