Joojoo
I've got Bagpuss and the Clangers on DVD and loved Ivor the Engine too. His children's programes will never be forgotten. There hasn't been anything anywhere near as good either before or since. RIP Oliver.

jlo
What a brilliant photo! I loved all the Oliver Postgate programmes too. They played an interview with him from last year on Five Live breakfast this morning. Nicky Campbell asked him to recite the beginning of Noggin and it was sublime! He has had a good life and has made millions very happy. RIP
Old Speckled Hen
Oh what memories of such simple pleasures.SIGH Woodentops, Andy Pandy and Bill and Ben. I was 7 when Ivor the Engine hit our black and white screens and 23 when Bagpuss our colour ones. I actually would love a Bagpuss for Christmas

Mutrix Farmers
Very sad news. He bought joy to thousands of us of a particular age!! Do you think they (ie TV schedulers) will repeat any of the programmes just for us fortysomethings? I could do with a bit of Ivor the Engine or Noggin the Nog to cheer me up. The Dogmother
It was so sad to hear that this morning. The Clangers were my favourite - did you know that they wrote whole scripts for each Clanger episode, then 'played' them on the kazoo?
