Husband just been involved in accident.

Recommended Posts

He eventually got home at about 9 last night. He was very shaken understandably. He's been checked out and is ok and isn't too achy. I dread to think what would have happend if he'd been in a car and not his work van as there are dirty great big tyre marks about half way up the passenger side doors.

Yes, the driver stopped. He was Bulgarian and in a Bulgarian lorry and didn't speak much English. .

Sorry but that doesnt surprise me. I am not implying that all foreign drivers are bad (some English ones arent too good either! ) but because the lorries are LHD and so big when they pull out they often do it without seeing a car in their blind spot. I once saw an accident on one of those "Police Stop/cops with cameras" tv programmes where a young girl died (she was in a very small car) due to this. Because the driver was eastern european he couldnt be prosecuted. :(

Your OH was very lucky indeed, wishing a speedy recovery.

Crikey - glad to hear your OH is OK. Bad enough with cars but that would be so scarey with a lorry. Get that neck sorted right away - even if he feels fine now it might not show up until a few days after the incident - that advice was given to me by paramedics in February last year, after someone hit me - I ended up with 3 months of physio and because there is a weakness there I get twinges now and again. Also I was told to put something warm like a hot water bottle on it (I was surprised, I thought it was supposed to be an ice pack but the guys said nope, keep it warm). So get out the heated cushion/hot w b for your hubby right away - and Ibuprofen.

Just caught up with this thread...

Glad that your OH is OK, but I agree with others that he needs his neck sorted.

My impression is that there are more lorry accidents involving foreign drivers than brits, whether this is because they are on the last leg of a long journey and tired or because they are driving on the 'wrong' side of the road for them or both, I don't know, but it is always worrying when one is being overtaken by/or is overtaking one of these huge lorries.

Foreign truck drivers are a nightmare...........I used to live between the channel tunnel and Dover, every time I had to travel on the A20 it was really scary. I heard of one crash that involved a foreign truck ploughing into a police car that had the flashing lights on ( fortunately the police officer got out of the car in time).

Get your hubby to get his neck checked out and let the insurance co know that he has neck trouble.
