Seagazer
I think I have been good as the things I actually have are: Egg Skelter Nigella's Christmas cookbook. Just don't get me started on my wish list...... I am going to be very good this year though and not buy anything unnecessarily. So I really should just get a walk in run at some point if I can s"Ooops, word censored!"e the pennies together
Mrs Webmuppet
I haven't bought any of the must haves ( I already had several pairs of Crocs) but I have taken up making jam and chutney. Without the encouragement of the other domestic godesses on the forum I wouldn't have considered making up hampers and giving edible goodies to friends for Christmas. The chocolate truffles were a huge hit and the christmas puds delish. So the forum has been a positive influence on me.

Yorkshire Pudding
Guilty as charged m'lud. I have had the chickens for 13 months and have acquired: (RIP) Troll bracelet Roomba Woodburner (in my defence, we planned to get one when we bought the house, but...) Lots of books Yankee Candles (and I was never a scented candle person BC - before chickens) and I desperately need a and lots more but OH says I can't - but then he said I could only have two chickens and I have three.. And I would love a Maine Coon.
abwsco
The only thing that the forum is responsible for making me buy is the egg skelter and 2 troll bracelets and beads I already owned lots of lock and locks, better candles than YC and loads cheaper, sheepskin boots, kipling bags and a breadmaker that I don't use A roomba is on my wish list though should I ever get a pay rise (not had one for over 2 years) Given the current climate a job is still a good thing. Ardene5
Hi Everyone We do not look at it as a cost but as a hobby which the whole family can enjoy. All hobbies cost money but which ones give back as much as you put in? You can chill out with hens in your own garden without having to drive or walk miles how many hobbies can do that? Best regards Ian & Valerie
Plum
I totally agree with you, but I can blame the forum for getting me to buy ikea clear shower curtains when I haven't got a shower. Reject vegetables that no-one in their right mind would buy. Dustpan and brush (with enthusiasm )
jlo
Crikey - this is a bit of a scary thread cos I am such a weak willied individual when faced with all the temptation that you lot throw in the way!! I have managed to resist Crocs! (Apologies to all you devotees but I really don't like them!) I have bought all sorts of things for the chooks and that is just going to continue I guess. Otherwise it is :- Chicken Poop Lipsalve Power washer Wonderful wonderful furry boots - the only reason that I will be sad when Winter is behind us is that I will have to stop wearing them! Cooks
I couldn't be without my crocs for going in with the chickens. Even my sons put them on.. mind you they are size 6 (13 YO) and 7 (11 YO) and I am a 7.. and yes my 13 YO has smaller feet than his 11 YO brother.. Janty
The forum has been very, very bad for me as well. So far ... etc. Tubtrugs Crocs Crocs georgies Egg boxes Bottles for various concoctions Jars for lemon curd Nigella's Christmas book Copious amounts of meal worms Live mealworms that are breeding merrily in tubs in the conservatory Peckablocks Various lotions and potions to ensure health and bossiness in chickens Various chicken books Aubiouse Ex-batts A heat lamp - friends was not really suitable Chicks and I am currently hinted at a pandora bracelet for birthday later in the year and designing a walk in run. Ardene5
Hi everyone This hobby is cheap compared with an earlier hobby of mine!!! I used to own and fly a privately owned hot air balloon (cost about £10,000) insure it myself about £600 per year. Have an 4 x 4 Nissan Teranno with trailer to move the balloon around when not flying or displaying at a fete. Pay for the fuel myself .... hot air balloons burn propane. So if I say this hobby is cheap( keeping hens) compare it to hot air ballooning! All this was before I met my better half and settled down but keeping hens is a much better hobby and cheaper. So enjoy the better parts of life Happy Omleteering Best regards Ian Ian & Valerie
