BeckyBoo
Well, I thought Julie Walters was very Julie Walterish to start with, but she got better towards the end. I've sat here sobbing my heart out (but then I'm very tearful today anyway) BeckyBoo

Lesley
Superb acting. It was far more harrowing than I thought it was going to be.
alih
I thought it was excellent too - couldn't stop thinking about Boadicea Overall to start with but it is such an important issue and was very well dealt with in my view - I could barely see for crying by the end! bluekarin
I was crying at the end too. Not good with having a cold so was well and truely bunged up. Good job OH wasn't in the room. I must have looked frightful! But back to the prog. It was well acted and I really enjoyed it. Her kids were amazing. It makes you think what you'd do in a similar situation. edited for typos

Ain't Nobody Here
I've just watched it too. Very moving, I had a box of hankies at the ready . I don't know if any of you saw this BBC news report? From the little you see on that, the TV programme seems to have been very accurate, even down to the reporter playing himself. It was also very moving. What a brave woman.

The three children had a lot of input as well I believe? - that must have been so difficult for them.
Seagazer
I watched this last night and I had tears rolling down my face by the end. I watched the newsclip this morning. I really don't know how they had the strength to seem so 'normal' whilst they were in Switzerland. I don't think I would be like that, I would be so emotional. But then I suppose they have seen what this disease has done to their mum and seen their dad suffer from another terrible disease. I wouldn't want a loved one of mine to suffer but I really wouldn't want to say goodbye. A very good performance from Julie Walters and the rest of the cast. chrisnrob
We've just watched this, having recorded it last weekend. By the end I was sobbing with tears streaming down my face. I knew what the programme was about and I know what the 'ending' would be; I didn't expect it to affect me as much as it did. I can only echo what other people have said about the superb performances from all involved and about the courage of her children, both at the time and with their input into the programme. Every so often, something comes along that 's worth the BBC licence fee in its entirety; this was one of those programmes. Rob
Jillus
I only watched this yesterday but was deeply moved by it. I have an Aunt with PSP and she is now too far gone to be able to state her views on what she might want. She is exceptionally well cared for but has difficulty swallowing , could choke to death at any time and requires assistance to do everything. She used to be a vibrant happy person but now is just a shell. It is time the law was changed to allow people to decide how and when and where they wish to die. It was so sad that Dr Turner had to go to Switzerland where the laws are more liberal, decent and the people more humane. As she said if you had a dog suffering like this you would put it down. Seagazer
I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt Jillus. It must be so sad to see her so different from how she used to be. My mum has said to me for years that she would rather someone shot her than let her suffer with a debilitating disease or old age if she couldn't do anything. Trouble is if it came to it I wouldn't want to lose my mum. Its a terrible thing that we let humans suffer in this way.
Jillus
I really would not wish to lose my aunt either but I know in my heart that the life she must be having must be wretched. I do believe in the sanctity of human life but that life has to have some quality. I would rather remember my Aunt as she was, than how she is. All spark gone, all smiles gone, no expressions, nearly all emotions away. Unable to communicate, but she can still cry tears and that makes me so very sad. Magnificent acting from Julie Walters as always and from the others too.
