The Dogmother
I was in the queue at the post office earlier and the chap in front had a bar code tattooed on the back of his neck. Is this some new cult, or just a one off? Just though - I wonder if anyone has scanned it to see what it stands for?

I'd get banned if I put what I thought it stood for -lol Have seen people before with bar codes as tattoos. Very tasteful

fowlbird
isn't it some kind of satirical statement about today's surveillance government?
Cinnamon
The use of the barcode as a tattoo design is meant to be ironical, a warning that if we are not careful as a culture, we are all in danger of becoming products ourselves. A barcode tattoo is also a protest against a culture where it seems that everyone wears the same clothes, listens to the same music and uses the same products. A barcode tattoo is a statement against a culture of commodities and a celebration of diversity and the uniqueness of the individual. There you go...................................... They are very popular it would seem. Ironic really having a tattoo, which is a sign of rebellion, which you can see in your cupboard or in Tesco, but each to their own I guess. The Dogmother
Ahhhh...... I think He didn't look capable of thoughts that deep TBH, probably just had it done because one of his mates had one.
clootie
If you looked closely enough, you would have seen bolts coming out either side of his neck too.

Ain't Nobody Here
I wonder what he'd show up as on a supermarket scanner . Bag of nuts? Frozen tripe? Looroll? Reminds me of that twerp who stole a police car but had his name and d.o.b. tattoed on his neck .
The Dogmother
I wonder what he'd show up as on a supermarket scanner . Bag of nuts? Frozen tripe? Looroll? Here's what one of my friends said about it: The bar code - well thought we would get them here (at work), so automatically scanned to let you in through the doors you can go through and clock you in (save you losing cards, as you can't loose an arm or neck). Could be that its the only way he knows who he is - or the government bar coding people that are barred from bars or football matches The ideas are endless. I have trouble remembering my own name some days - perhaps it's a good idea!

Trish
It's probably a reference to a Sci Fi series called "Dark Angel" where genetically enhanced children were being raised as soldiers and escaped. They all had barcodes on the backs of their necks. Starred Jessica Alba

The Dogmother
Could catch on CHP I may have posted about this before, but there's a pert teenager in my gym who has 'Princess' surorunded by stars (a la Disney) tattooed rather large on the small of her back.. looks fine if rather daft now, but just wait until she's fat, forty and has 6 children as happens to most of the pert young lovelies here... she may not think it such a good idea then! I like tattoos, but I think that you have to use some sense when having them done. Someone on here (can't remember who) has a beautiful work of art. It's going to bother me now as to who it is.... My sister has a red devil at the top of one of her legs - she instantly regretted having it done and it took her 10 years to summon up the courage to tel our mother She's not the slightest bit rebellious, so I don't really understand it.
