My big bargain

Recommended Posts

I wnet into reading today & while I was in Debenhams I stumbled across a gorgeous dress that I thought would suit my eldest for her Prom in July.

Its midnight blue satin, halterneck, skims the hips & flows into a full swirly skirt, just below knee length.

She has tried it on & it looks wonderful on her.....................

REDUCED FROM £80 TO £17!!!!!!!!!

I am feeling just a little bit pleased with myself :P:P:P:P:P

My eldest hired a Limo with several of her friends. That way it didn't cost very much at all. DD2's friend had a father with an old car and he drove them, even dressed up as a chauffeur for them.

You're very lucky with the dress Cinammon. I have ended up paying £90 for a dress we didn't have. Debenhams!

Both my daughters paid for their own dresses though. DD1 got hers in a charity shop - a Monsoon long black silk sleeveless dress for £10. She did brilliantly. :D

Still got another daughter to go - and then I can try it from the boy's side!

To give a better idea of the shape, the dress is called 'Marilyn', as its very like the dress Marilyn Monroe wore famously over the grate.

Its one that looks like nothing on the hanger, but my girl has the most divine buxom Monroe-esque type figure, so it really suits her.....a bit too well if I am honest :lol:

If they do hire a limo make sure it is properly licensed. The police LOVE to swoop on the school proms and do the limo's then the kids get left with no lift home and NO REFUND!

They get told by the school every year but it still happens.

Wow sounds a gorgous dress. And what a bargain! I love it when that happens. I bought a dress in M&S sale a few years ago. Its one of the Limited Collection range and is black, sort of empire line grecian style (sounds weird, but v flattering) and it was £5! I couldn't believe it! I have worn it so many times and it washes so well I will be gutted when it finally wears out.

Right Cinnamon - you inspired us!

Darling ED and I have spent the day prom dress shopping. Debenhams didn't turn up anything for us, but Monsoon's sale was fabulous.... too fabulous! Now we need the help of all you omleteers out there!

There are two wonderful dresses, both in the sale - reduced from £180 to £50 each. ED couldn't decide so I suggested we get both, bring them home, try them on with shoes and make her mind up as Monsoon are happy to have returns within 7 days. Now that we've got them home it's even harder to decide as they are both so beautiful.

We've taken a photo of each dress and we'd love to hear your thoughts. I'll start a new thread: please have a look and vote!
