The Dogmother
Martin - how do you mean about the silkie egg going from side to side?
ubereglu
What are you going to do with them when they're fully grown. Your garden's even smaller than mine and three hens is definitely enough at the moment. Hope there's a high hatch rate! I thought you had to turn eggs when incubating them and get the right humidity-what did you do for that then?

ubereglu
Nagging wife syndrome..... Oy, don't be mean, just using my common sense and little knowledge of incubation learnt from Practical Poultry.
AnnieP
I'm sure Martin has read all about it and knows what he's doing..... he was our forum expert even before he had chickens
Jools
I'm really sentimental about Marans - mine have been lovely natured and fabulous layers of dark brown eggs. My favourite died earlier this year from a respiratory infection, so I acquired some eggs from two different sources - the chap I got my original Marans bantams from who wins all the prizes at local shows for his eggs (so his birds are always good layers!) and also from Henwife on the forum (who breeds for layers not for showing). Just wanted to say two things: I went to the Westmorland County Show today near Kendal (it was a mudbath) and the chap I got my Marans bantie eggs from walked off with nearly all the first prizes for his eggs AND he won the best in show. My banties are related to these champion egg layers and MARTIN ................ TELL US WHAT'S HAPPENING ............ PLEASE
