Recommended Posts

No I didn't get my nails done but LMW has an Omlet T shirt waiting for her when she gets home from school  She will be soooo eggcited. They are having an animal day at school tomorrow and she has been racking her brains as to what to wear and now she has the ultimate tshirt  (she has no idea that there's a t shirt for her!)

edited to say photos will be along later when it's been built - I don't like to distrurb Mr W when he's building flat pack stuff.

Well what a day, the Cube is built and installed. Mr Webmuppet whisked us away after school up to Hen House and we came home with a chook each. We now have a mini buff Orpington ( Bromley) a mini Maran (Petals) and a mini Gold Laced Wyandotte (Bling) :D .

It was past chooky bed time by the time we got home so there aren't any photos yet but I promise to get some tomorrow.

WOW, new cubes, new chooks already named!

You Webmuppets are fast movers :D

Will be back tomorrow for pics!!!

How did the build go?

It's unusual for me to post here but I thought that I'd let you know how we got on with the building of our Cube:

Amazingly 'Nightfright' managed to deliver our Cube earlier than expected (about 10 ish this morning).

The five boxes that contained our Cube looked in good condition (and I took photos of them before starting assembly just in case anything was found to be damaged). The instructions are very good and I followed them to the letter - I reckon I took more like three hours to complete the assembly (rather than the estimated two) but I deliberately didn't rush in the hope of not getting anything wrong. If you are going to use an electric screwdriver.......get a decent one, my cheapy Tesco one soon ran out of puff. Be careful screwing bolts into the metal inserts - one of ours had a dodgy thread and messed up the thread on one of the screws (sorted out with a small file) but this did slow things down a bit. The run clips look a bit 'Mickey Mouse' but are very effective and make a decent job of holding the mesh sections together. The 'P Clips' are a bit of a nuisance because the bolt hole is only just big enough - a minor detail but it makes things a bit awkward and fiddly. Overall, it goes together very well and only needed a minor bit of readjustment at the end - we may notch out a small section of the 'skirt' which will allow us to move our Cube closer to a fence but overall it looks really good,

And less than 2 weeks ago you hadn't made up your minds - there's no stopping you Webmuppets once you get started is there? Well done all of you! :D

Glad to know all went well with the build and that you each have a new chook to occupy the new home - lovely names too (whose is which?)

Did LMW like her tshirt for animal day?

LMW loves her tee shirt and wore it to school today. My chicken is the mini buff Orpington, the Maran belongs to LMW (she nearly drove the guy at Hen House nuts trying to choose a chicken, in the end he made the choice for her!) and the gold laced Wyandotte is Mr Webmuppet's.

Hopefully the pictures work. We have a couple of minor teething problems with the Cube but I'm sure they will be sorted in no time  .

Sorry mods about the picture sizes I tried to get Photobucket to do them as small as possible but I couldn't get them any smaller.

I'm not sure how mini Marans came about - the man at Hen House decided that it would be a good chook for LMW and would give her dark brown eggs.

The other girls are still in their old wooden house, which is on the veg patch at the moment. Bumble, Scurry and Snowy have been out and about in the garden today and don't appear to be fussed by the newbies. They have even almost met by the side of the Cube without incident. :P

They are struggling to work the Superglug at the moment so I have lowered it so that they can drink out of the top of it.
