BarbaraJ
I bought a wireless webcam but had to take it back as its modem interfered with my internet wireless. Well thats what the man in shop said so i have ordered a Y-Cam recommended on here. It looks great and has no modem you access it through IE apparently. I will let you know how i get on with it when it arrives. you have to buy a special cover for it for outside and it was £145 hubby had a fit but once he had put the other one in and then had to take it out i got the bug i work at home but with 3 under 3 yr olds so can'r see them often all day, well thats my excuse also online i can show the relatives lol

shaunw
Yes it is possible to get a wireless camera that will run off a battery. the question is how far will the wireless reach and what will the picture quality be like? check this one out on ebay for only £26. But if you want quality pictures and less trips to the camera to change the batteries then i would recommend a wireless IP camera. You run it connected to the internet through your existing wireless connection at home and it has a built in server that means you log in through a specific IP address (like logging on to a specific website but the only thing it shows is your camera 24/7). it will no doubt be password protected so not easy to hack into. e.g this one or this one both on ebay. the first one is infra red the second one even has sound. Both will need mains power though. this is how a wireless IP camera works The issue as always is how much do you want to spend????????? Forge Cottage
I am really interested in this too, but have searched and it seems they are nearly all made for / intended for indoors. Our run is very much outdoors, way down the garden - and even if we sited the camera under cover, sure it would get damp. Another problem is that I don't have a plug socket in the lawn... I did look at the Y-Cam, but use Macs at home and work. Macs don't do IE so cannot get the (kindly offered) webcam link to work. I understand there are some very good spy satellites
FlyingRamses
Hi ATSW put a link to my web-cam post. My Y-Cam White does work well, it is wireless and plugged in (for power) to my outside power socket. I have housed the camera in a tupperware container with holes for lens and microphone as well as one in back for power cable. It works well and is also under cover from direct rain. You can buy a waterproof housing which copes with direct rain but it costs around £45. There is also a Y-Cam Black which has infra-red to watch the girlies at night if you so wish!! It was a little fiddly to set up but Y-Cam have a good support team. Just sorting out a fixed IP address and I will then fire the camera up again for you to view. Hens sometimes sit on it so you just see a bunch of feathers Simon
sandyhas3chucks
I know this is an old post, but I have a long garden and a wired cctv camera, conncted to a tv works great. My question (I guess to Fred ) is can I/ how can I connect to a pc so that I can view over t'internet? Please.
Lewis
I guess you'd need to have a connector between the wired camera and the computer (usb/vga?). You could then just use a programme/website to stream it online I used a normal webcam when the quail chicks were hatching and it worked well, but it meant the laptop couldn't really be used for anything else so just recorded it instead. We set one up at school on the brooder and streamed that on the network and put it on the plasma screens at the entrance to school Every so often a hand would appear and pick up a chick Its interesting that this should pop up because I wandered about the webcam holes on the Go yesterday ... will post it separately

Lewis
Have just posted about the Go webcam here There is a VGA to phono on Amazon, also for cheaper on ebay but the listing may end by the time people read it Might be easier than getting a new camera to record the tele and having to leave the tele on Not used it myself, but UStream might be worth a look
FlyingRamses
Good luck with this, it all became very difficult for me as I was trying to stream via my BT homehub which changes its IP address regularly, I subscribed to DynDNS Updater which helped a bit but it was very unreliable. There are several pet watching sites so it can't be that difficult!! My goal is to feed the video to my iPhone wherever I am in the world, of the hens or our dog when everyone is out!! Will let you know how I get on. Check out www.EyeSpyFX.com which is what I am hoping will get me back up and running, it is not proving to be as simple as they say though!! vicky86
I never see any totally Wireless, Weatherproof Web cam in the market or online shop. But on our office, it seems there is a Wireless CCTV Monitor Cmos Camera. widely used for theft prevention, afterhours surveillance, home security, etc.

Barkisland
We have the Y cam white in Hensington Palace, which is situated about 100yds from the house, and it works very well. I don't give the link to many people though, as it messes up the BB connection if too many peeps are watching! My FIL likes to look in on my girls every now & then though, and as he lives down in the Midlands, it's nice that he can
Rusky
I've just realised, I have an IP camera that's not doing anything. Once I get my hens I'll rig it up. It's got night vision too!!!
