Cinnamon
Sorry to be late in starting the thread for this Super book though, isn't it? Very moving & really beautifully written too. The movie is coming out soon Next book is 'A Quiet Belief in Angels' by R J Ellory, which is wonderful.
Couperwife
I really enjoyed this it was nice how she worked through the "healing process" and considered the fact that even though people never forgot, it wasnt so raw forever (if that made sense ) I was a bit annoyed at the end though when he wasnt caught my friend recommended this to me, I think she lost someone in a similar way I didnt want to push asking questions, but the book gave a lot of answers. cathy x

Ms Marple
I loved this book, it was one of those where you have to keeep turning the pages to know more. I also wanted the killer to be caught. Has anyone read The Almost Moon, also by Alice Sebold? I have only read a preview and I keep meaning to buy it but have promised myself not too until I have finished all my current pile(s) of books. It did grip me and I really do want to read it.
chickencam
I read this book about 2 years ago and loved it. The story is very moving and well written. My OH also read it and we then passed it on to my Mum

I've been trying to read Almost Moon for a while - I'm finding the subject matter quite difficult because I have an elderly needy mother who I don't see very often. It's a bit raw for me at times but, again, beautifully written.
little chickadee
I read this a while back. I almost didn't get past the initial horribleness (OH didn't), but I'm glad I did. Being a mother, I always hate reading about something happening to children, and have stopped reading books on a number of occasions. Probably wouldn't have bothered me pre-motherhood! Loved the book and I'm so glad I got to the end.
Willow
Bit late posting but I've spent days looking through all my books to find my copy as I read it ages ago. However I have concluded that I must have given it away (which is very rare for me). It was very well written but I found it horrible to read. I can read Patricia Cornwell books without a problem but thats because they feel abstract and about a problem/mystery to solve rather than about how terrible things affect people. The Lovely books with its descriptions of grief felt too real and I have a great fear of something happening to my boys that I have to keep trying to push down in my mind. So I finished the book because I had to know how it ended but knew I would never re-read.
Guest
I'm afraid I am the same as Patricia - I didnt like it and have given my copy away. It has put me off trying anything else by the same author up until now.
Trish
I read this book a few years ago and having been through something similar I found it very difficult to read but I can honestly say that her treatment of the issues involved is very honest, human and true. She doesn't sugar it up at all and I can see how that could make for harrowing reading for some but I admire the book for the honesty and dignity it manages to have over such a foul and difficult topic. Not sure I could sit through a film of it though, bit near the bone in places. I've also read "The Almost Moon" and it equally a difficult read in terms of the subject. Again I think she deals with it in an interesting and open way but I found it harder to care about the characters and therefore a less gripping read
Seagazer
I'm afraid I haven't read this book this month, I didn't think I could cope with the subject matter at the moment.
