A bit of news...

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Thought I'd better drop by and give you a quick update about what happened on our wedding day...

...it was brill! The weather was lovely, sunny if alittle windy when we came out of church. The owl that I carried down the aisle was fantastically behaved. The crafty things that I had made went down a treat and all our guest seemed as if they had a great time.

I know that you want to see pics but I'm having fun trying to upload them, so please bear with me!!

Lisa

Thank you all for your kind messages. We settling down nicely to married life and I'm still chuckling about that owl and the look on my fathers face when he saw it, he had no idea what was happening you see! Neither did my matron of honour. I just remember wlaking down the aisle holding Muggle (owl) and seeing everyone doing a double take when they saw what I was carrying - brilliant!

Congratulations, you look lovely - and I really, really like the idea of carrying an owl and not a bouquet! Just one question ... what did you do with Muggle while you got on with the business in hand, as it were? You usually hand your bouquet to the chief bridesmaid - did she take on owl duties?

I'm assuming also that the owl wasn't thrown to the bridesmaids after the reception!

Hi Olly

When I got to the bottom of the aisle I handed Muggle to his handler who had slipped down the other side of the church where there was a seat waiting for him. I carried Muggle back up the aisle when we left.

No I didn't throw my 'bouquet'. The flowers that I initially had were actually three smaller bunches fit together. When my husband had given his speech we untied a ribbon and then handed the smaller bunches to my mum, his mum and my matron of honour, they were speechless!

There are so many little stories to tell about that day, but I wont bore you here!!

Can I make it clear to all who may be concerned about Muggles welfare out there that he was of paramount importance to us. He really is a rock steady bird and we knew that he would be ok with the situation as he is used to people and has been hand reared from an owlet. I am a would be falconer myself and would not have contemplated putting Muggle in a situation where I didnot feel that he would be ok.

This post may sound strongly worded, it isn't intended that way. Muggle wasn't a 'gimmick', he was there as an expression of our love for nature and also as a symbol of how myself and my husband got together, through our hobby of birdwatching. (Although you dont see many Bengal Eagle Owls in the wild in the UK!!!)

Sorry, but I just wanted to make it clear...:roll:
