Red rubber bands BBC article

Recommended Posts

How many have you found? Can't say I've ever come across one!

I hadn't noticed them before either until i read the article yesterday. Went on a little walk with the dog after work and found 6 red elastic bands in half a mile! They're everywhere!!

Got one on my post just yesterday. Suspciously little post this week when our postie is on holiday!

Our postie doesn't drop them but he does park his van on our driveway. I guess he leaves them in the van.

Ours parks his van in the driveway, then delivers to my neighbours on foot.

I don't mind unless I want to go out.

Actually that is exactly what ours does - often Chris nextdoor is sitting out the front smoking so he will stay and chat. Fortunately we have a roundabout in our drive so he parks by that and we can always get out the other side.

Incidentally - EVERYONE drives the right way round the roundabout and if they are in my car when I go the wrong way there is a sharp intake of breath! It's kinda funny how well programmed people are.

We get alot dropped by us and it makes me really  . Not just because of the littering aspect but because one of our cats, Tilley, has a real thing about rubber bands and chews and chokes on any she finds  . I spend all my time picking up any I find and hiding them from her. She even brings one she finds in other streets back to the house  . I don't do anything with them though, I put them in the bottom of the bin where she won't find them.

The biggest litter louts then must be posties - my cat loves them too and would eat them so have to put them out of harms way but why do they drop them at all - they should be make to pick them up like kids dropping litter - imho anyway

I agree completely, if my cat ever chokes thanks to a red rubber band I haven't managed to pick up in time I think they will find my postie with red rubber bands round certain parts of his body  .

Wow that is an impressive ball of bands! I also pick up the ones in the drive or outside the front door. They always come in handy. Whenever I have to pop into the sorting office for OH, there are loads all over the road there. I think they breed when we're not looking.
