Lesley
After conversation with two other moderators - one of whom will visit your house and change the toilet paper over in the holder( ) ....which way should the roll be placed? Paper hanging down at the back?...........or over the top and at the front?........ Highbrow stuff I know
Falkor
This is up there with the matching pegs on the clothes line! Hanging down at the back of course......anything else looks unsightly!!!! ooooh I must get out more!
Guest
I never used to worry about which way round it went but DH is very anal (pardon the pun) and insists it hangs down at the FRONT so I do it that way now, for a quiet life (he used to make such a fuss about it!) Redwing
My bathroom is less than 3ft x 7ft - I don't have room for a holder! If I did the loo roll would be hung in the correct overhang manner
Snowy
Not so much no room for a toilet roll holder, more no one has ever got round to putting it up. The bathroom has only been completed 10 years So ours STILL sits on the side of the bath!
ali-s
I voted for the second option of hanging down at the front. My dad was a painter and decorator and always told his customers to hang the toilet paper this way to avoid s"Ooops, word censored!"ing your fingernails on the wallpaper or painted bathroom walls when tearing off a sheet or two. He always knew which of his customers did not do this as the walls were always marked when he went back to re-decorate.
Charlottechicken
I voted for the second option of hanging down at the front. My dad was a painter and decorator and always told his customers to hang the toilet paper this way to avoid s"Ooops, word censored!"ing your fingernails on the wallpaper or painted bathroom walls when tearing off a sheet or two. My toilet paper hangs down the front too I once broke fingernails grabbing toilet paper in someone else's house where the paper hung close to the wall, it convinced me there was only one way to put the loo roll on the holder
Mrs Frugal
Hanging down the FRONT !!! You know it's the right way, Lesley .

Mrs Frugal
It looks horrible hanging down at the front I beg to differ . I go into a panic if I find that one of the boys has left it like that. LSH knows better than to do that .

ali-s
On the very rare occasion that somone else in the family has replaced the toilet roll but the incorrect way I have to change it round to the correct way Normally though they just leave the empty tube hanging on the holder
Nicola H
I am afraid it has to be over the top and hanging down at the front, I also have to change it in other peoples houses before I use it.........
Cinnamon
This was a topic of great debate & many arguments in our house, up until a year ago, when I caved & allowed Hubby to have it hanging at the front. I prefer it at the back, but I gave in on this one, to get my way on another issue
ali-s
It bugs me when someone hasn't ripped the sheet along the perforations and has left half a sheet on the roll with a raggety edge

Obviously a man of great taste . Ali, I agree there! I have to tidy up any untidy rips too!
Egluntyne
Down at the front of course. There is no other way!
craftyhunnypie
When you have it hanging down at the front, you can do fancy things with it. Fold it in a fan (posh) or fold the corners in to make a pointed pull tab (like the queen has). Toilet roll origami. Such great discussions we have on here! Christian
Over the top and hanging in front for me. Any rips are a hangable offense in my house. I have even been known to fold the end into a triangle. Lesley, I cannot believe that someone would come to your house and change the toilet roll around to the correct way! bronze
I'm not bothered. In fact I now prefer it not to be on the holder at all so I can grab it to do the bottom that a child has stuck in the air for me

Ms Marple
.......... Normally though they just leave the empty tube hanging on the holder Same at our house - nothing moves(except food!) unless I move it. I voted hanging down at the back, BUT, have just tried out the other way and decided that after all these years I prefer it that way!!!!!
