We've lost the lovely May

Recommended Posts

May chicken peacefully passed away last night :cry: . I am very sad. But also very greatful that she went in her sleep. She wasn't right yesterday when I got home from work and we were going to take her to a vet today.

She was an Ex-Batt had a wonderful whole year's retirement with us. She was second in command and kind of acted like a bit of a heavy to our top chicken who ruled with simply a glare! She had the most powerful pair of legs Ive seen on a chicken and when she was scratching in the garden, one scratch could send a huge amount of soil and gravel a fair old distance.

She grew the most wonderful, healthy looking set of light ginger feathers (and actually looked smarter than our ginger Anita who came from a breeder).

It hurts now, but I'm glad we got to know May Chicken. She was a happy girl and lived her retirement to the full. She will be missed greatly by me and OH.

R.I.P. May Chicken :cry::cry::cry:

Thank you all for your kind words. Its hard loosing a girl, but the omletteers make us feel we are not alone, and other people truly understand.

Heres a before and after picture of the lovely May.

I'm having a good sniffle looking at these photos :cry: . She was so beautiful, and came such along way under your care. I have lovely memories of her under your kitchen table, and coming running to the patio door when you opened the fridge for a mushroom. She had the best retirement an ex-batt could have wished for.

Wasn't she a beauty? What a good life she must havehad with you and what a peaceful passing...sad news but as you say you at least knew her for a short while and gave her freedom and sunshine...she could not have asked for more!
