HENthusiastic
They are not with us just yet, but I couldn't resist introducing The Sentinel Alpaca Lads! KYROS! At three years old, Kyros is the oldest of the Sentinel Alpacas. As the only one who is halter trained, we are hoping he will show his younger friends how to do things. LINDEN! Linden is 2 years old and is the most curious of the three. He walked up to me when I met him and peered at me in the face from about 5 inches away! LEIF! Leif is also 2. He is the mischief of the lads and the most lively. How lucky am I? I've got about two weeks to wait (maybe three ) before they come to live with me. HENthusiastic
I take it you like them then?? I can't wait. I am soo excited. Still waiting for a definite date, but it should be two or three weeks. I think we should be able to halter train them. I guess its just down to commitment and time really. I want to LOADs, so that should mean I put the work in to make it happen. WHere they live now there are about 60 of them, so they havent had as much alpaca:person contact as they will have when theres only 3 of them and 2 of us, so I'm hopeful they will get tamer. I'm going to book myself on a spinning lesson and hope to turn their fleeces into yarn! I'm really excited about that. Imagine being able to knit my own scarf from my very own alpaca yarn . SO, that will be their only job in life, to grow their fleece and to protect the chickens from foxes. HOpefully, they wont find that too hard and will just be able to chill out and do alpaca things all day. Once they are here and settled in, I shall invite you all up to come and meet them! (And of course the chickens that will be moving inshortly afterwards). Thanks for sharing the excitement and pleasure with me.

I'm really excited about that. Imagine being able to knit my own scarf from my very own alpaca yarn . Won't you be knitting chickens from alpaca yarn first? Actually, with three of them, you'll be able to knit entire outfits! Seriously though, I remember a friend having a beautiful soft, black, silky knitted scarf. One day I asked her what it was made from and she told me it was the soft underfur from their long-haired black German Shepherd. Honest. I was . I met said GSD a few months later - he really did have such a beautiful silky coat - but have never heard of dog fur knitting before or since. Your alpacas look lovely and I am totally jealous - OH would never let me have one. We are all avidly waiting for invites to snuggle them and cuddle them and play with their ears and feed them treats and.... sorry. I'll get me coat.
