fluffyknickers
I love buying cook books and often hear mentioned on here Hugh Fern-whatstis family cookbook, I believe its this one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/River-Cottage-Family-Cookbook/dp/0340826363/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_i Its expensive at over £16 so wondered what you all thought - is it worth buying? Cinnamon
YES,yes & yes again. Its the book I use more than any other - his Spag Bol is amazing (even if you like your own recipe, try this!), as are the Salmon Fishcakes.

The Dogmother
It's brilliant I got mine in our local branch of The Works, roughly that same price as the one Lesley linked to if I remember rightly.
Saronne
I got mine second hand from our local OXFAM shop (for about a fiver). The recipes are fairly basic ones, lots of comfort food, e.g. cakes, scones, pasta, bread, roasts, etc. and even a really simple one for making butter! And, like the title implies, is pitched at the family so kids can have a go, too ( under supervision of course). Saronne x
