Jules.
My first poll I never thought that getting chickens would eventually lead to me starting to knit again. Up til recently I counted knitting as old-fashioned & something that my mum does ( to my shame) So, I wondered how many other Omleteers can knit? Chook n Boo Mum
I can knit and only in a basic way - none of this Icelandic/Fairisle complicated stuff for me...give me a scarf or bag anyday ! Sha x
Mrs Frugal
I can knit a bit. I can't follow a pattern but can knock up string dishcloths in no time . I would love to learn how to knit properly though as my Grandma was a superb knitter and I feel quite ashamed that I can't follow in her footsteps. MIL is a great knitter too. I do let the side down .
Nicola H
I will teach you Kate...... I couldn't read a pattern when i first started 3 years ago now i can decifer anything, knitting magazines are a great way to start as they always have a little tutorial in the back, the internet is also a good source of info. I am about to get satrted a lovely cable jumper in organic wool it will probably take me until next winter to finish it though.....
Ana's flock
I love knitting - don't like following patterns and prefer to create my own. I love making unconventional shape jumpers, combining lots of colours and textures ...so yes, my garnments look a bit messy at times... but the fun! It's a shame I haven't got more time... bigmommasally
I can't knit I've tried, my mum has to cast on for me then I can do a bit of plain or plur but if I drop a stitch I have to wait until my mums here again to sort me out! My mum is a brilliant knitter and does beautiful crochet but I just can't do either.
Trish
erm I knit....... a lot!! I have to do at least a row every day and that feels like deprivation. I think I currently have 7 or 8 projects on the go. There's complicated knitting project, TV knitting, sock (always a sock or two on the go), lace knitting, chunky knitting, colour work knitting...... You can see where this is going oh and then there's the spinning
theherd123
There isnt an option on the poll for me! I can knit but only if someone casts on and casts off for me, i can only knit squares, rectangles or really really long scarves!
BarbaraJ
I put 'a bit' as there wasn't an option for me as i can knit and follow a pattern for jumpers etc but havent for about 20 yrs
mostin
My Grandma taught me to knit. I had "knitting" grandma and "crochet" grandma. Whoever's house I was at, I always had a little project on the go .
craftyhunnypie
I love knitting. Only ever made scarves, bags, novelties, teddies, dolls. Never made a jumper / cardi. I want to knit a shrug next - but I can only do knit, purl, slip one, increase, decrease. I can't do make one, or any other fancy stitch things & cable is beyond me. There's a gorgeous shrug in Let's knit - but you have to knit with 4 balls of wool. I can manage 2 strands together, but four. Ooo no! Helly Welly
I am self taught and can knit a bit but i've only managed increasing and decreasing a couple of times. If you can make it from a square, i can knit it
HENthusiastic
I can knit, but I'm new to it. I can only knit; scarves, chickent and egg cosys! I want to learn to knit more, especially now I'm learning to spin .
Tulip
There was no option for Trish and I - "Every day and at every opportunity"!! I am knitting-obsessed at the mo. Lucky hubby enjoys housework (weirdo). I have a tv project (textured baby blanket), mindless project for when I get stuck on the phone at the office (usually a sock), complex project (cabled baby jumper), project I'm waiting on correct needles for (nappy shorts with intarsia)... and a long queue of items that I absolutely *have* to make *right* now. Treated myself to Knitpro metal delux interchangable circs set at the weekend. They'll be here any day and I may squeal with joy over them
Fizzle Knit
I'm a winter knitter, have been for the past 3 years Have knitted monkeys, pigs, hens, scarves, bags, and a couple of uncompleted jumpers Get really obsessed with it in the winter, but on the slow side
Milly
I used to knit, but haven't done for years. I have been thinking about taking it up again, but I'm not sure if I could even remember how to cast on. Is it like the proverbial riding a bike, once learned never forgotten? I don't want to spend a lot of money on wool and then find I can't do anything with it. I suppose the answer is to start with some s"Ooops, word censored!"s of wool and give it a go. But it's been so long I can't even find my knitting needles Milly
