chocchick
Does anyone know about it? I've heard it was good a few times. I found a wiki with 30+ types, and there's flower ones, other ones and I'm confused Does anyone here find it good? What type might I need? Can you use it on chickens too? The Dogmother
I've found that Rescue Remedy works in the past, and I use the spray on Rosie when she's overwrought and it works a treat. Never used it on chooks though.
Lesley
I think Buffie has used it on chickens? I use it whan visiting the dentist
Nicola H
I also use the spray when I am stressed ie. flying or going to the dentist, I find it just takes the edge of my nerves and stops the butterflies in my tummy.......
Mrs Frugal
I used Rescue Remedy combined with Kalms to get through my driving test(s)! Didn't help me pass first and second time but did keep me calmer !
chocchick
What sort do you use, where do you get it, and are they all bach "flower" remedies? I'm more anxious as normal as reached writing up stage of PhD
AnnieP
I use it with my doggies when they are stressed: A little bottle of liquid, from which I add a few drops to their drinking water. Helps with stress and anxiety. I've been known to take a few drops on my tongue too in moments of need.....its great! You can get it from any health food shop and my local Boots stock it too. Just ask for Bach's Rescue Remedy (pronounced Batch's). They'll be able to point you in the right direction. I would not hesitate to use it in my chooks drinking water if I thought they were stressed about something..... dare I mention bonfire night? Cinnamon
I just use the regular rescue remedy in a spray form. It helps me but I am not sure if its all in my head or not I get panicky in new situations (hence never coming to an Omlet meet-up),or in places I cannot escape from - like planes & trains. I use it on the dog too, on Bonfire night or if there is a storm
theherd123
Boots have a 3 for 2 offer on Rescue Remedy at the moment!
Laura & CTB
I have also used the rescue remedy for many years - try it - you have nothing to lose.
Cate in NZ
I carry Bach Rescue Remedy around with me a lot of the time.... but generally when I get stressed I forget to use it until I'm calming down again after . That said I did use it during labour (a very long time ago now) but I really think that it helped, not with the pain aspect sadly, but more with the staying calm and not getting panicked or out of control . Sheilaz
A helpful topic, and I didn't know about the spray form, only the drops taken with water. May I just warn everyone though, that the drops should not be taken if on some medications such as anti depressants. As with all natural products, do take care to read the label for suitability. Having said that, I have heard many good reports of the rescue remedy, & I'll look out for the spray. Thanks!
Guest
I used the Rescue Remedy, with great success when working in pubs - while others headed for the cigarettes in times of stress, chookiehen brought out the rescue remedy!
cabbagepatch
i could do with using it at work but because it is in an alcohol base, if i use it will my breath pong of alcohol? i've got some but too scared to use it during the day
Popcorn
Cabbagepatch - you'd have to use an awful lot to have alcohol breath. A couple of sprays and you won't notice. It does have quite a strong taste, but you'll still be able to drive and walk in a straight line You could always buy the drops and have some in water before you go to bed and before you leave for work in the morning, and then maybe at lunchtime if you need a top-up. The Dogmother
I htink there was a thread a while ago about using it for animals and someone mentioned that there is now an alcohol-free version.

Do you know which medications? The lady at Boots said it shouldn't react with medication, but I didn't spell out what I was on and was buying painkillers. I have a spray, should be good when I start driving my car (should have bought it before I got the cheque out today ) They'll probably smell the alcohol on my breath, wish I'd read that before Don't think Trinny et al. are ready for alcohol either

Doh, I didn't mean to be alarmist, and in fact I was thinking of St.John's Wort! That's the one that should be checked. Sorry! Good news though, I've just been reading up all about rescue remedy & Bach flowers. Interesting stuff. Apologies for confusing message earlier. chocchick
Thanks, *breathes out again* I just tried spraying a bit. Can you keep using it i.e. is there a limit on using it if you are really stressed (i.e. picking up a car tomorrow ) It doesn't say anything on the box. Nicola H
Well I do and I am still here, when I am really stressed I may use it every 30mins then once I feel calmer I use it less...........
Cate in NZ
Sheila, the big contraindication with St John's Wort is the contraceptive pill. It can render the pill quite ineffective I don't know of any drug interactions with Rescue Remedy, but that said anyone wishing to take it who's already on medication is advised to check with a pharmacist... just in case.
