OMG rain :shock:

I saw the heavy rain at Glastonbury on BBC Breakfast this morning and now it is here. I was vacuuming and it was getting darker and darker nearly as dark as the solar eclipse, then it started and we have had 10mm in as many minutes. :shock:

I haven't seen rain like it since 2007 :roll::anxious:

We have now had thunder and lightening and now have steady rain but a brightening sky, but more rain on the way. 17mm of rain in 45 minutes, will be interesting to see how much there has been by the end of the day.

It seems that there is more to come for the next few days with Sunday being the only break until mid-week :roll: It'll make the veg grow :D

Early this morning it was boring dull grey, but dry. When I looked out the front - yurk! Horrible evil black blanket! But it did even out once it reached us, shed lots of rain (ground still dry as a bone underneath) and then no more after that. It is still grey, slight breeze, but there is a weird atmosphere - birds all quiet (except for my gobby girls of course :roll: ). I think we need a storm to clear the air. A lot cooler outside and I have been pottering in the greenhouse and popping in more veg without the need for gallons of water and wilting (me, not the plants :) ).

Our storm probability has gone down from 60% to 29% chance. I don't reckon we'll get any now, although when we put the girls to bed for the night there were ominous black rain clouds coming from the south/east. Still no rain though. All in all a pleasant afternoon after the closeness of the morning.

Well we have still got a blanket of cloud - quite grey earlier, but the sun is now trying to break through. A slight gentle breeze now and again, but boy, it is hot already! All I did was to go and let the girls out and potter in the greenhouse and came in really prickling all over. I saw on the news (when they actually had a break from Jacko and I was just about to turn the TV off in a hissy fit) that it might reach 30 in London today. I think it's time to turn to Farenheit now - for Hook it says 24 with real feel of 29 = 75/84! Too hot she shrieks! We are also supposed to get the odd shower - BBC news had a little rain cloud near Basingstoke - probably on top of us!!!

Have been listlessly mooching around garden as it was too hot to work, I cleaned the chooks out and helped my neighbour sweep up the (shared) hedge that he'd cut at the front of the house, I don't know what the temperature was but I couldn't move without dripping sweat.

Just as I decided to put the girls away, the sky clouded over ... it's now thundering and raining buckets! Quite a relief as it was so unpleasant earlier.

Very hot and humid here - the greenhouse windows were opening up before 7. We have hazy sun at the moment and all is quiet apart from those blooming flies. Is it me or are there more around this year. We didn't have any problem last year at all.

The worst is when you go up to bed and the heat hits you - even with all the windows wide open, it is hard to breathe and feels like there's no air (which of course there is). No sheets tonight again. The soil is bone dry with cracks in some places - the oak sucks up so much moisture.
