I Can Hear Peeping!

Recommended Posts

I just had this overwhelming urge to take a peek inside my incubator. A Dorking & a Poland egg were rocking next to each other and one of them was talking to me!:dance::dance::dance: It'd be a lovely surprise to wake up tomorrow to find at least one baby chick! I always get confused over what day they're due, previously I'd counted the day I set them as day 1 but then someone said day 1 is the day after  So if they were set on a Friday that makes them due Saturday doesn't it?

How on earth am I going to sleep tonight????????

Little Dorking is having a nap. No further progress since the hole it made this morning which I'm secretly pleased about because I had to nip out to the feed merchant to part with shed loads of cash (it's payday!) in exchange for him filling up my car with far too much chicken paraphenalia. Mr Griffin is trying to be ultra efficient with money and I'm expected to fill in his spreadsheet with how much I spend daily. Methinks the less he knows about todays expenditure the better  I'm forgetting already :liar:

So now I'm home, don't need to move from my spot next to the incy all day  Ex-bats are ready for collection just before 6pm tomorrow and I hope by then the majority will have arrived. I'm expecting 5 Dorkings, 3 Aracaunas, 4 Polands, 4 Houdans, 3 Black Orpingtons and there are 2 Wyandottes and another Poland that I'm not too hopeful about. I can't wait!

Wow what a cutie!

Woo, love his little egg tooth too

Going to sound stoopid here  whats an egg tooth? Don't know anything about chicks, but loving all the pics. Keep them coming

The description given at the farm: "A chicks version af a chisel and hammer to get out of their shell".

Then the kids would ask what a chisel was :lol:

They just use it to crack out of the shell, they go around in a circle and when its all chipped, they try to stand up, which forces the 2 halves of the shell apart :)

And the egg tooth falls off after a few days :D

Poor little thing is getting lonely in the incubator. Three other eggs have pipped but "Ooops, word censored!"ody shows signs of coming out any time soon. I hope to wake up to several!
