Jules.
I'm quite into scarves at the mo, but have no real idea how to wear them. They're not fancy scarves, more like cotton longs ones with tassles which i just wrap around my neck & try not to get strangled. Anybody out there who has "style" & any tips for me? Lewis
I've never worn one. But if they're the ones everyone else wears. Fold it in half to make a triangle, have the point of the triangle on your chest and the flat bit on your chin, wrap the 2 longer bits around your neck and have them hanging down. That doesn't make sense, so:
Angels4
Check out http://www.geocities.com/KarenSpecial/scarfvs.html many different folds listed with instructions.
Cinnamon
I love to wear scarves, & go for fairly long ones with a bit of glitter. usually I jst throw them on & loosley knot or double knot the at just above boob level. If its cooler then I put them on so the 2 ends hang down my back, then bring them forward to hang down the fron. Not a great description................ Aga n Chickens
Thank you Mark. Your link has given me loads of ideas as I also have a collection of scarves but didn't quite know how to wear them. Many years ago, while on holiday in NYC I bought loads of scarves from a chap with a suitcase on the street outside our hotel. I've had them in a drawer for ages not quite knowing how to wear them, but they were so unusual and like nothing I could buy here in the UK that I just had buy them. A few months ago OH and myself were invited by an Asian friend to attend their traditional wedding. When we arrived at the temple we all had to cover our heads so I was able to drape a scarf over my head, and it looked fine for the purpose. Problem was when OH got into an awful mess with one of my spares. The over the head and under the chin method didn't seem to have the right effect. In the end I managed a version of the 'Head Dressing retaining bandage' I remembered from my SJAB days and that didn't look out of place at all Christine
Milly
Interesting - I didn't know that my preferred way of wearing a long scarf was called a hacking knot! Milly
LaPoule
The best way to wear a scarf is with nonchalence, darling!
craftyhunnypie
I wear mine like the first photo on this thread. I like ones with a bit of sparkly thread in them. Emma.x
Cinnamon
Scarves are great. They keep you warm, they bring the eye up away from my bum, they are easy to tie onto your handbag straps if you want to take them off & still look cool, and they are a cheap way to brighten up a plain outfit. I love scarves, but probably have too many
