Chicken boarders

hi everyone

 

i'm here for a morning rant

 

 

well this boy in my class at school started keeping chickens about 1 week before me in an eglu and within 6 months his first one was dead but about 2 weeks before it died i went round and he was throwing it into his thorn bush and was seeing if it could get out but when it did come out it comb was shredded up and pouring with blood so he threw it into the eglu and closed the door so his mum could not see it

 

when the second died his brother left the ring of a bottle in the garden and it ate it and he left it to die and choke on the floor

 

 

when the last one died he left it dead in the eglu for about 3 weeks until his dad threw it in the bin

 

sorry i wanted to let of some steam and to see what you all thing of this boy

Good heavens

Thats totaly shocking. Words fail me. Do you know this boys parents. Do they know what has happened. You would think if you go to the trouble and expense of an eglu you would be serious about chicken ownership.

I really don't know what to say! I am totally shocked!

Do you think you could perhaps befriend this boy and teach him about care and kindness by example? Could you get him interested in the forum?

Are they planning on getting more chickens? They seem to need a bit of education first!

If you know his parents, why not tell tthem about the forum........or perhaps they're on it already

Why did the parents allow him to leave the chicken dead in the eglu for 3 weeks? Do they not care either?

Unbelievable. I agree...totally unacceptable.

 

However....I imagine the evidence has disappeared so doubt that the RSPCA would be able to do much about it.

 

I sincerely hope he doesn't get more hens.

 

However, if he does, why not point him in the direction of a few hen keeping forums ( maybe not this one ) so that he can pick up some basic tips.

he said he hates ands and has sold his eglu to someone

 

and he is really mean about me at school when he said i'm a crazy chicken person with 17 chickens and i had my nose streched out so it looks like a beak

He sounds like a bully, and to treat a chook like that is criminal. I am glad that he is not keeping any more chooks.

Horrendous, but from the sounds of the parent's response it has come from them! How could a parent give that reaction to treatment of a living thing - I could understand if it was a cheap toy but not an animal. The parents should be teaching him respect for animals - sounds like he doesn't stand much of a chance!

Really I am not sure what to say about a boy like this. It sounds to me as though he has serious problems. People who are cruel to animals often are cruel to other humans too.

 

Keep strong Josh and don't let him get you down. I am sure that you have good friends who know just what a loser this lad is!

He sounds awful, please do not let him pick opn you, you are so lovely.

If he chooses to be cruel to animals he is not the sort of person who gets any respect, any one who ,listens to him is as much of a pratt as he is.

my chickens are essentially my childrens pets, as an adult you are still responsible for their care, if he gets any more animals at all I would keep a close eye.

just remember you have the moral high ground and he is a bully.

Well he sounds a bit of a sad case with a personality disorder, so I wouldnt take his comments to heart at all.

 

I think just feel sorry that a boy has to take out his frustrations and troubles on chickens and I wouldnt give him the time of day in the future. Who would want a friend like him! HIs parents dont seem to give him much support either.

 

Definitely RSPCA and police next time and you do not tell anyone that you have reported it, they do investigate confidentially. Its the chickens that are the concern.

 

Glad he isnt keeping any, he needs to grow up and get a life

 

Am sure he will get his come upance one day...... they usually do, just stay friends with everyone else as he wont have many.... sounds a bully.

That's just awful, Josh . Those poor chickens . I don't suppose there is much you can do about it now (especially as his parents knew all about it ) but you'd do well to keep well clear of him, which I'm sure you are doing. Your parents should be very proud of you - you are obviously a very mature and caring person .

You are very lucky to have hens at your young age. I would have loved to have had chickens when I was younger, but glad I have them now, they are soooo cool and lovely.

OMG............that is so awful , I too feel so angry with this boy . He doesn't know what he has missed out on with all those beautiful fresh eggs he could have had for breakfast, & not forgetting the pleasure he would have had from his girls .
