Plum
Been having a discussion with OH about what raisins and sultanas are. I say they are grapes Any ideas and then what are currants. (nothing on tv )
Egluntyne
Currants are......erm.....currants as far as I know......(presumably black rather than red) Raisins and sultanas are black and green grapes respectively.....I think.
WitchHazel
Currants are actually dried grapes as welll - they aren't dried blackcurrants. They are a particular type of small black seedless grape, but I can't remember the name - I'll see if I can find it... Edited to add; According to Wikepedia, it's called Zante http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zante_currant
craftyhunnypie
I've always called currants.....ninnies. My nana used to call them that. Emma.x
Plum
Wonder which mod decided sultanas don't live in the craft section So currants are either ninnies or grapes. I really thought they may be blackcurrants.

Plum
Christian so how come scones are low fat 2oz of fat to 8oz flour? No
Christian
...but you get a lot of scones with 8oz of flour. (as long as you don't smother them in butter, jam and clotted cream and eat them all)!

Valkyrie
That would be big bag Wiltshire folk are funny. I'm in Hampshire, just Oi! Oooh totally agree with Christian - my SIL is a Wiltshire native and that just sums up my brother too! Why is it that I only seem to find the currants with pips - I really don't like crunching cakes, so stick to the bog ( ) standard raisins and sultanas.
