Mel (& Paul)
Do you have any shoes? or do you have to walk the 173 miles to work in the snow with bare feet
The Dogmother
Blooming cold here this morning - 4 deg But lovely and clear. I'm with Andrew on the cold - I much prefer the warm, but bright clear mornings like this one are fine

Looney
Forget autumn, more like the middle of winter this morning at 6.50am as I stood freezing my extremities off at Ely station....usual train was cancelled so I had a half hour wait for the next one Beautiful clear morning though, the Fens looked fantastic (more so once I was on the warm train!) and the starlings on the platform kept me amused with all their chirping and to-ing and fro-ing- funny little things! I wonder if I can blame the dirty marks on my windows to the dog we don't own (currently adding that one to my ever expanding book of useful excuses / explanations ) Lorna
Guest
Cold here last night too, so I got out all the winter duvets this morning ready for tonight. It's apparently going to be -1 here tonight! Weather's fantastic for getting all the bedding dry though No heating on yet - last year it was November 6th when I put it on! I always try to 'break the record'. Downstairs seems fine but upstairs is like a freezer. I closed all the bedroom windows this morning, very unusual for me! DS even wore a jumper to school today, usually just a short-sleeved shirt! I think that's the first time since March and he didn't even moan about it. Just made sure I wasn't going to make him wear a vest Winter is on its way

Lovely place though! I've sung in the cathedral a couple of times.
Looney
Wow that sounds interesting - I'm ashamed to say that I have lived here since May and still haven't been in the cathedral Really like it here even with the freezing cold wind, saying that I grew up in the flatlands of Lincolnshire so it feels like home
Guest
Do visit the cathedral! There is a famous octagonal window at the top of the tower.

Lesley
It's feezing here - frozen mud, whoopee! Beautiful sky - hope the rest of the day is nice and crisp. We've had the heating on for the first time since we moved - and have discovered that it hasn't been zoned as it should have been Our bedroom was a sweltering 24C and the hall and most other rooms were 21C I like warm reception rooms and a cold bedroom
buffie
Frost in the field by our house this morning (need to fleece plants) and the smell of woodsmoke last night when I finished work...lovely!!!! BBx
The Dogmother
Yup, just half a degree here this morning and frosty - lovely day though. Had the stove roaring away last night and was lovely toasty
chocchick
Brrrr Heating has gone on now, and thick jumpers, and even had to wear a coat to let the chickens out. I thought the chickens were putting on weight, then realised they were fluffed up a bit as it was cold
Laura & CTB
I've been wearing a coat to let the chickens out since the end of September I love the way they look all small and cute when they're squashed in the nest together to go to sleep - then when they come out and do that fluffing up thing - they look massive
Guest
Still trying not to put the heating on, but grudgingly have to admit that my feet and hands are cold! I'm cooking, so it's warm in the kitchen. Then I'm going to do some ironing, so that'll keep me warm. I may have to put it on this evening though
Hazel_L
Put the heating on last night for the first time... Also dug out OH's down-jacket to walk up to school this morning - it's so toasty I'm still wearing it. Off to make home-made soup for tea
